Please elaborate.

I wish they had played DC; I would've gone!

but then you'd miss out on the garlic fries!
By the looks of this video, I'd say a couple of notches below a Legwarmers show, lol.

I thought the Men Without Hats was fine… nothing to write home about (I was being a bit facetious!).. but I'd be shocked if they ever play anywhere near me again and as a kid I loved the Pop Goes the World tape…I got on the guest list and enjoyed myself…. got him to sign my record afterwards… it was hard adjusting to the fact that he looks like George Carlin and was wearing a Led Zeppelin shirt. They did about 10-11 songs I think…. Ivan sang.. two young women on each side "playing" keyboards (I think they were playing mostly) and a guy playing guitar right behind Ivan… It was a bit like watching Ivan doing karaoke actually… He did Pop Goes the World, Safety Dance and SOS (the ABBA song) as an "encore"…

Tonight I'm going to check out El Vez.. haven't seen him in maybe 15 years? I think I saw him once at the Black Cat..
I want to see El Vez fronting The Zeros. The Zeros played Velvet a couple years back but without him because he was busy doing his thing, sadly.

I like the Savoir Adore version of "Pop Goes the World" in that Tide commercial. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bXzUHUbioOs
Just pulled a BMSR U ST ticket ($15) after seeing the low ticket warning and the convenience fee is $8.75. Lollerskates at anybody jackass enough to pay that. If there are none left by Thursday night, guess I am SOL.

i get your point, but the options are:
1) getting yourself all the way downtown from your neck of the woods (hint: it's way, way out there) to buy an advance ticket and save on convenience fees, *OR*
2) getting yourself all the way downtown from your neck of the woods the night of the show and hope you can see the show.

personally, i'd pay $8.75 to avoid those two options regardless of what face on the ticket it.
I got my BMSR ticket the day it went on sale. Every time I've seen them it has been a totally different, sometimes insane show. I love the new LP and EP. I have not yet been to U Street Music Hall and this seems like a perfect introductory show. I am super stoked honestly!

I will be at Velvet on Thursday. The show is Saturday. I plan on grabbing one Thursday night if they are still available. If I get shut out, so be it.
the problem is if people pay the 8.75 then next year it could be 10.50 and the year after the charges could be more than the face value of the ticket!

at some point people have to say enough or the charges will never be enough…
Exactly. I am honestly surprised that the market is bearing this much.

I understand why a convenience fee is there and when it is reasonable (see: Black Cat, Blowtel, non-930 pres USMH shows), I am happy to pay it because it does, in fact make my life easier. But $8.75 for a $15 ticket is way passed the threshold of what I am personally willing to pay for such a convenience.
I'm in for X tonight.
Mates of State on Friday and maybe Celebration, Ami Dang, and Drums of Death on Saturday (Horse Lords was replaced by Ami).
Daniel Bachman/Moth Cock/Riley Walker tonight
Eternal Summers Tuesday
Screen Vinyl Wednesday
The Caribbean/Plums/Talk It Thursday
Silo Halo Friday
Priests/Foul Swoops/Cigarette/Sex Tide Saturday

Moth Cock may replace Aids Wolf and Anal Cunt for best band name ever.

SVI supposedly had or are having a show with The Vacant Lots in December. Did you see that one, or going to see it? I'd love to see The Vacant Lots. Of course, SVI are always a good show.
That is the one.
I should give the Vacant Lots a listen beforehand.
Alex Clare tonight!
if anyone care what is left of the misfits at the howard show is up on goldstar now..
Nada Surf will kick ass tonight, like they always do!
Thursday - Wing Dam (Mobtown Microshow Taping)(I might try to catch Thurston Moore at Ottobar afterwards)

Saturday - Secret Mountains, Other Colors, Holy Ghost Party, SoftSpot @ WindUp Space
