Real excited about the Swervedriver date also. I got into them way late… in 1997 (99th Dream)…

sorry – been busy all day! but youll be happy to know for all of a few seconds i thought of you and what youd be missing. the presets were just brilliant. its hard to realize how just 2 guys can make music so f'ing great. the drummer is quite cool - plays some of the stuff standing up and plays keyboards on a few songs. the lead singer is just awesome. he was wearing this bright neon pink jacket with a shirt with lip prints on it (all in hot pink). under the lights it looked glowing. When he wasnt playing the keyboards he was dancing up a storm.

The place felt like webster hall (as in it was the first time i felt the floor moving). everyone was dancing - Im pretty sure it was impossible not to. The new songs sound brilliant live. Ive not stopped listening to them. I met a photographer at the show and I know he got some incredible pictures. Im not sure when hes posting them - but you may wanna check out www.santiagofelipe.com (if rob (sal_paradise) is reading this- the guy totally reminds me of you - even from where you are)… btw Rob - where the F were you last night??

Ill post some of my pics when I can.

And Walter Meego - 3 guys from Chicago were brilliant openers. they were a nice complement. i highly recommend checking them out. the only complaint i had was that their myspace page had much more dance-y tracks. they slowed it up a bit last night, but regardless they were good. The keyboardist was a bit spastic (rather like the guy in the presets), so i could see how they were together.

anyway - if you can get to philly you owe it to yourself to see them. im kicking myself for not seeing them in brooklyn. i should have seen M83 earlier (ie at music hall) - then 2 nights of the presets. ah well. win some, lose some.

either way - it was kinda like when i walked out of digitalism. digustingly sweaty and hotter than hell, but you couldnt wipe the smile off my face. i was going to hit the after party - but i was dead tired from being up way early for an interview (for a job i didnt even get :( )
did anybody make it out to see the waco brothers last night?

i just went to the presets myspace page, they sound like the worst band in the world.

The Wacos rocked the house last night, as they always do. A good career-retrospective setlist, plenty of political witticisms & hilarious commentary from Langford and some fine revved-up boozy covers for the encore. You shoulda gone.

my feeling about the waco brothers.
I think they opened for Hot Chip at the club. They were bloody awful. From what I remember, it was a two piece "band" with most of the music prerecorded. It's terrible electronic music.

Alejandro will be bringing his own opening act, but we don't know who it is yet. I doubt it'll be the Wacos, but that would be a great combo!
the waco brothers were kicking it ten years ago, kicking it now, and will be kicking it in ten years. the presets will be remembered in two years only by those who scour budget used cd bins.
hayden on sunday for me

swervedriver is great but too many fucking reunions
I'm upgrading to "probably". Don't know if my girls will make it though.

Julie Ocean were shafted by the soundman at Iota last night. Muddy sound, fuzzy vocals - just horrible

Yell County (the headliner) were a pleasant surprise, balls to the wall rock and roll - echoes of Sabbath and Wolfmother with a little Black Keys-ish blues thrown in and a light dusting of southern rock…..topped off with the most amazing and entertaining drummers I have seen in manys the year!
