Ha Ha Tonka on Friday!
Thanks again to the guy who gave me a ticket when I was about to enter the BC. That was great.

I've only been listening to Destroyer for the last month or so. Of course, I am very familiar with and a big fan of the NPs. Suicide Demo and Painter in Your Pocket (which I never heard before) were the highlights of the night for me. I also liked Chinatown and Blue Eyes, too. I just downloaded Destroyer's Rubies. I'll be listening to that for the next week or so.

I never realized Bejar had such a big hand in Twin Cinema. Yeah, I know, he sings on a bunch of songs. If I had listened to TC like it was vinyl, I would have burned through four copies over the year.
I was also disappointed the Post reviewer panned the eff out of the show, but I can't say I was surprised.
Old 97's/Teddy Thompson. Yay.

And watching my wife run the Charlottesville Marathon Saturday. Yay!
THE SKULL DEFEKTS + DANIEL HIGGS, ZOMES, MICROKINGDOM, SHAVE tonight at Floristree. Anyone else?  I might be by myself at this one…
Looks like we're going to see Splintered Sunlight in Baltimore tomorrow.

I loved Floristree (first time) and the Skull Defekts with Daniel Higgs rocked hard as shit.  What a great, fun show.  The sound was good, crowd was into it, and the band (especially Daniel) just went nuts.  The pairing of his crazyness with their Swedish, all in black, big muff trudge… Very nice.  Plus the one guy banged on what appeared to be taped together gas jugs with metal on the top.
So jealous. I planned to go to that for months but the inconvenience of getting to Baltimore then probably having to stay the night then getting back the following day paired with the free tickets to The Whigs Joe won for that night caused me to go to 930 for The Whigs instead. They were just ok. Maybe I should have bit the bullet and gone to Floristree.

Bardo Surf City Pond tonight
Either Broken Water or Spectrum Thursday
maybe Dingleberry Dynasty Friday
Fan Death Showcase Saturday
Aids Wolf Sunday
Infernal Devices - Wed
Wye Oak - Thurs

From the night before:

I would probably never go see the Whigs unless it was free.  I saw them at Black Cat and left before they finished (they were just ok).  At least Dead Confederate kicked ass that night.
Weather sucks too much to go anywhere tonight.

ugh

Been looking forward to this forever, too. I used to not be this lame. What happened?

Im skipping the Hopkins thing due to the rain.  Im going to try and go to FDR or the Floristree show tonight (probably Floristree, I really dig that venue).

Edit:
Adventure/Future Islands/Raindeer/etc is rescheduled for tomorrow.
i should've have seen broken water at smash

fucking weather
Yeah, I feel like doing nothing right now.
Now its mini movie marathon time.

Sunday:
12:45 - RAINDEER
1:30 - LANDS & PEOPLES
2:15 - WEEKENDS
3:00 - DOPE BODY
4:00 - ADVENTURE
5:00 - FUTURE ISLANDS
you all missed pleasure leftists who completely moped the floor of every band that played tonight at any venue. period. people were floored. jaws to the fucking floor. band played like they have been playing for years and had something to prove.
god damn it

How were Broken Water and Locrian?

Chris did tell me Thursday that Terence from Locrian lives in Baltimore now so I am hoping they will play more gigs around the area.
both killed it

locrian again jaws dropped to the floor, the execution of the new stuff is flooring, and with a drummer mind you…just proved that more to be so.

ed shrader killed it too, it was as if he was recalling early death in june or bauhaus vibe. totally great.

but yeah Pleasure Leftists, holy crap….It's 9:45 am, and i'm still stunned, and I'm not just sayin that cause i booked the damn thing.
