This week rollcall

So that Chelsea Light gig was rather swell.

agreed - enjoyed it significantly more than the record.  bummer about the poor attendance, though.
Yeah I was expecting a better turnout too. Didn't Thurston sell out the room when he toured for that solo album? I thought that one was lackluster and skipped that show. Then again, I think Kurt Vile opened that show which may have helped attendance.
yeah, 2/6/12.  And yeah, Kurt Vile was a big draw for that show (which I skipped for the same reason you did).

I think that despite all the good press on CLM, there are still some SY fans who don't know that's Thurston's new band.  He seems to want it that way– the show certainly wasn't promoted as "CLM featuring Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth".

I knew about that show but seeing one of the later Sonic Youth shows I attended was so awful I passed on it.  Plus he isn't doing Sonic Youth songs so probably that kept a lot of Sonic Youth fans from attending.
if a sonic youth fan did not go see thurston because he will not play sonic youth songs . . . then that person is not a sonic youth fan, in my opinion.
I agree to a degree. I've seen Thurston play improv sets that sounded nothing like SY. Not sure how most Sonic Youth fans would feel about this, for instance. That being said, last night was a full band show that was very Sonic Youth sounding; pretty sure most Sonic Youth fans would have enjoyed it. Also anyone who knows anything about the contemporary experimental music scene knows that the rest of the band is no joke.
almost made it… just ran out of gas and i figured i'd have a bitch of a time metroing back to falls church… sorry to have missed it..kinda second guessing myself now…i like poorly attended shows….i always root forthe underdog and i think musicians often put on their best in such circumstances

thurston was great last year (the show kurt vile blew chunks at)

i thought with a $15 price the show would do well..

but yesterday''s heroes are today's hasbeens…

i would agree that if you passed on the show last night you're not a sonic youth fan…
Chealsea Light Moving wasd great.

I missed the opener - any reports?
It was a solo modular synth noise guy. I enjoyed it. A rare opportunity to hear a noise set on the main stage.
also to be noted, for those who like guitars with an aluminum neck: it sure looked like he was playing an EGC.

Nonense
So yeah Jowe Head.

Fantastic sets both Saturday and Sunday. Exact same set but whatever. Highlight was the Vertical Slum>Full Moon>Mother Sky>Full Moon medley at the end. Also Cakeshop Girl and Swiss Air. He asked at one point if anybody was at the T.V. Personalities gig at the Club in 92 and a hush fell over the crowd. Little surprising. I figured maybe one or two people in that crowd would have gone to that. Popfest with Killsaly was a great time all around. Great crowd too. Hopefully it is an ongoing thing.

Maybe the Velvet thing tomorrow.
White Lung/Pissed Jeans Friday.
Probably Sonic Circuits thing Saturday.
Quintron film screening Sunday.
enjoyed Glen Matlock and Sylvain Sylvain last night…

Syl probaby stole the show a bit…both real nice guys though….
cold war kids thursday
pissed jeans/white lung friday
BSO does James Bond friday night.
Both probably paled in comparison to the Ramones guy doing bluegrass.
