From the looks of the request page, it seems like you can still request tickets to any night of the last 12 tapings. That's what I did a few months ago and they called me yesterday. I had to answer a trivia question to be given tickets and then I could pick any night next week to attend (unfortunately, guests aren't announced yet).

but they said that RA was possibly the highest count of musical performances with 11…can't find any stats

We went to the Scarlett Johansson/John Mellencamp taping a few weeks ago. Fun times and we made an on the air cameo in a crowd shot!
