Jucifer are one of the loudest bands ever. Saw some pics of their amp stacks at Baltimore….Good gravy!

I know; this was the 7th time i've seen them, dating back to 11/16/00 in Austin.  I try not to miss 'em when they're in town.
Jucifer are so great live….sad to miss both DC and baltimore shows
7 times! Your ears will never forgive you haha. I have only seen them twice :-( Both times had a band called Abiku opening.

I might end up at the Wind Up Space Saturday. I've never been there but hey, I consider The Pilgrim, Windhand, Serpent Throne and The Convocation a stacked bill.

If one of those shows was on 1/2/09 with Death By Sexy at the Black Cat Mainstage, then I was there too.  There were only about 10 of us there– smallest Jucifer audience I've ever seen.

Yeah, I want to go to that one too, but I'll probably go to the Fortress show at the Lab instead.  But I love the Wind-Up space, and if you're hungry beforehand, check out Joe Squared (pizza) across the street.
Yes indeed! I forgot about Death By Sexy. They were pretty good I think. The other time I saw them was at the Talking Head Club at Sonar in January 2009. Abiku, Darsombra and Hero Destroyed all opened for Jucifer to a crowd of about 25 people. Darsombra's set was very trippy and had some weird effect of me.
Anybody else make it to that Paint Branch madhouse? I showed up one song into the set and made it as far as the hallway. Still, they sounded awesome. Looking forward to hearing the full band Chris said they were assembling for bigger gigs.
Hear the album here.[/a]
Im really enjoying that Paint Branch album, thanks Az.  This week I am definitely going to A Sunny Day in Glasgow/Dead Mellotron/Other Colors at Golden West on Tuesday.  I might also try to catch Blonde Redhead at U St on Friday, but that is up in the air.
Jon Spencer Blues Explosion in Charlottesville tomorrow Monday.
dont forget to go to mellow mushroom . . . man i love their pizza.  and watching people there.
There is a Mellow Mushroom in Adams Morgan I think.

Oh and
Kuschty Rye Ergot tonight
California X/Priests Tuesday
Chris Hayes Wednesday tentatively

what? really? the same? and good? worth it? good beers too? cute people? adams morgan is still so trendy?
Never been. Adams Morgan is mostly shitty douchetown but there are a couple oases.
yeah, there is a Mellow Mushroom in Adams Morgan.  I've never been, despite living closeby.  I think they hosted a few shows there during the SweetTeaPumpkinPie fest.

This week for me:

Wednesday - Freakwater @ DC9

Haven't really looked at anything else on the calendar, but that Cal-X/Priests in-store on Tuesday would be easy enough for me to get to.
y'all missed out on Blues Explosion…just sayin'

Jefferson is a nice venue too.. tonight was $3 yuengling night.. can't believe i'm back home already….that was a breeze….i'll be back
Morrissey!  Tomorrow!  I try not to get too excited until I actually see him on the stage.
Dang it, looks like Dead Mellotron are no longer on the A Sunny Day in Glasgow bill tonight.  They are replaced with Smoke Bellow (http://smokebellow.bandcamp.com/). At least Jon Ehrens produced their EP…
California X played for something like 15 minutes. One of those rare instances where I could've gone for another 15-30. Sounded awesome though. Priests just got off a longish tour and have a permanent bassist now so they are sounding better than ever.
Priests were just added to that Hilly Eye show at the Black Cat 2/13
The two Hilly Eye tracks up on their bandcamp remind me of the last two Magik Markers records.
Morrissey tonight. Or as the President of the San Carlos Institute in Key West called him as he introduced Moz when he took to the stage in 1997, "Morrisson!" That was after we had to sing the Cuban and US national anthems. Most bizarre intro to a rock show ever.
