This week rollcall

I missed Great Lake Swimmers at BC - bummer. Hoping they come back soon to BC or 930.
kylie minogue on sunday    :D
my sister and I might be the only girls there. ha ha
Saw the Oakland show last week. You'll LOVE it. It was about 95% gay men and 5% fag hags. LOL!
Five costume changes and the dancers did about 12  :o.  She had a full band and brass section during the last hour of the show!  Damn, I need to see it again one more time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ohhh, then after that I went to 3 days of Hardly Strictly Bluegrass to tone down the gayness of the night before……..

Weak performance showing up DC re Os Mutantes. You won't get that chance again.

Anyways, great time and a treat… Had not realized how good a guitar player Sergio was…. They played about 5-6 songs from the new album and  Minha Menina, Baby, Ando medio desligado, Bat Macumba, Panis etc… They went on about 9:15 and played til about 11…

Damn. I could've easily made it out of there and to the club in time for the Gossip.

Ahh well.
The missus and I checked out Brandi Carlile on a whim last night. Never heard any of her stuff before but some friends we trust raved about her. It was well worth checking out. She reminds of a cross between Jenny Lewis and Neko Case. She's got far more range than Lewis and lacks the character of Neko. Also, her songwriting is a tad bit amateurish (but she's only 28). But her voice packs a punch and she's definitely worth seeing. (btw - what the f was up with the lineup for food yesterday? All the way back to the soundboard?)

Now looking forward to Bob Mould on Saturday night. Might even stick around for Blowoff  - haven't been to one of those since the days when it was confined to the Back Bar.
Agreed on all counts re: Brandi Carlile.
Thirded RE: Brandi Carlile…

There were some saaaaanging white girls up in the 930 Club last night…

And Seth - you're welcome.  I'm all about your profits.

John Lennon didn't turn 28 until 1968, Paul McCartney turned 28 in 1970, Mick Jagger in 1971, and Keith Richards in 1971. I'm just saying.

Ms. Carlile could very well be a late bloomer, but there's also a good chance she's already peaked by 28.

The question is…will it remain true?
