This week rollcall

how was Jens?  this was the first DC show of his that I missed, very bummed.

I thought he rocked out a bit more when I saw him with a different band in Ireland. I don't even remember him playing guitar at that show either. Although I like his style, and he is endearing musically as are his stories, the stories or his lyrics that are personalized became a bit corny to me after a bit. I prefer my s/s to get a little gritty or rock. The band is talented, musically not my preference for the long haul. Maybe it's his new songs? That said, he is talented, both he and the band played impeccably. Sound crystal clear and amazing - thanks Jens/930! Overall, I don't listen to him all the time now, and don't think that will change. I'd go see him again, but basing on personal preference, most likely wouldn't strive to attend; nor would I pay arm/leg or drive in stop/go traffic for two hours to see him [as I did last week].

Separately I'm hoping a show at JJ is slightly unnoticed or two far for people to come out (selfishly so it's not crowded and respectful, but also not sold out if I decide to go), Margot &TNS&S's. Would be nice to see them in a small venue.

ah, hell, how did i totally miss this show announcement? and i was just there! and of course, it's the same night as st etienne. and i'm already ticketed for that one.

feckin a!

f!a! here too. work event might keep me from it as well.
Those stories are always the same as well.

Maybe Gumbas Saturday.
Torn between three different gigs Sunday.

oh they are? haha.
when i saw him previously it was a big rock love fest no stories. did i say i miss ireland and their crowds? :) not sure why, kinda surprised you guys like him esp. if he's usually that way. he and his music are cool, but I'm usually going solo for the quirky s/s.  (glad you went tho!)
I mean the guy does write fantastic pop tunes and he plays them awesomely when has a band with him. His solo set at Sixth and I did leave me wondering if I would ever see him again, however. Glad I decided to do so.

Dang Az, you must get a lot of messages, your inbox is full.  No worries about the show, I might still go solo, or go to the Com Truise show.
That is bizarre. I deleted like 15 of them the other night and the only one I received since was yours.

Edit:Guess I screwed that up the first time around.
Considering the P-Furs on Monday.  TicketMaster shows a 2-for-1 deal, but you need a code.  Anyone know where to find that?
I'm driving up from Virginia Beach for Cat Power tomorrow night.
Voodoo Festival
;D
Bring tomatoes to throw if she mails it in again.

<disclaimer> I do not condone throwing tomatoes at performers no matter who they might be.

I saw New Order at Roseland this weekend and they were phenomenal. I hope they play DC again someday. Seems like the last time they were around these parts was 93.

Wish I would have known about that!  I am skipping it because of lack of show dollars.
Laugh all you want, but we're still going to see Old 97's Friday night. Hopefully getting there in time to see Rhett Miller open for his own band.
Dum Dum Girls on Wednesday.  Hopefully DIIV on Friday.

Think it was TMN241, but that no longer works.
Major Lazer on Thursday

Excited. Haven't seen them in DC since 09. Saw them up in Philly back in August. Tons of energy, super fun DJ set. Can't wait to see it in the club!
I'll be at both….glad the shows are in Baltimore….missed several shows in DC last week because I got too tired of driving to DC :)
