This week rollcall

I just don't get why GBV would take the stage at 8 pm at the 930….its a thursday night.. if they do their 40 song set list they'll be done by 10:30.. and isn't Mascis' band Sweet Apple opening..

I don't understand why doors open at 6:30 and Eddie was saying that GBV was exepcted to go on by 8.

Its a problem for me because I'm on kid patrol until about 9 pm that night….

But GBV at 8? Havin g seen them many many times I can never recall them going on that early and their shows were always very long so it doesn't make sense unless they have to be up early the next day to go to NPR or something..
No Uz Jsme doma for me tonight. Long day.
Fri - Gorillaz @ MSG
Sat - The Stationary Set/Winterpills - @ Union Hall
Marian Call house concert tonight

DJing the SCOTS/Fleshtones show Sat.
da wall
SCOTS/Fleshtones!
BTS!  hopefully doing a cover of the Dead's Ripple as they been prone to recently
Quiet week for me:
Points at Velvet and Puerto Rico Flowers, Pfisters and Screen Vinyl Image at the Talking Head are the only two definites. May be swayed into going to Bone Thugs.
kruder dorfmeister of course!

9 pm start time? what is this baby happy hour?

ridiculously early…
You were at that Tosca show and are giving Dorfmeister another shot? You are far more generous than I.

Please review afterward.

I dont know that I have a review in me but I dont' think you would have enjoyed it..
I wanted to see "Kruder Dorfmeister" for personal reasons but they really didn't focus enough for my taste on the down tempo…

Eric Hilton and Garza where at show and afterwards hanging in alley talking to K&D..
Did anyone go to the Women show at DC9 last night? If so, how was it?

Had to pick the Bowerbirds/Sharon Van Etten show instead and it was quite possibly one of the best Bowerbirds show I've seen. They were a five-piece last night, two core members plus drummer and two violinists (who also handled other instruments). They also had a marimba this time around (first time I think).

it was really good. a bit more dynamic than i thought it'd be. bradford cox and other deerhunters were there hanging out.
AWW!  their new album is really good, too!  Just hate these conflicts.

did you get there to see sharon van etten? i saw her at dc9 last month with the full band and it was pretty spectacular.
^^ Yes, she is a better performer now than before and more confident I should say (saw her open for Beirut and I didn't care for her back then). I expected a full band last night but she only played solo (about 40 minutes). I'm still trying to figure out the last song she played (it's not from her new one)…it was real, real intense. She said she'll be back with the band opening for Junip!
Thurs: Casiotone for the Painfully Alone @ Mercury Lounge

and maybe a show or two in DC this weekend. Anyone good playing? Sat or Sun specifically.
In Baltimore on Saturday is Puerto Rico Flowers only US show, also with Pfisters and Screen Vinyl Image.  I cant think of too many other area shows being close, but if it has to be in dc, then too bad.
Just now catching up on this thread, as I've been super-busy recently… in part because I've been going to so many 9:30 Club shows.  ;)

I was at the club four times in six days the other week:
Mon. 9/27 - James
Wed. 9/29 - Stars
Fri. 10/1 - doing Backbar gig with DJK
Sat. 10/2 - Teenage Fanclub, the Vaselines

This week I've been to:
Mon. 10/11 - Kruder & Dorfmeister
Tues. 10/12 - Deerhunter, Casino Versus Japan

Azaghal1981, I think you would've liked the K&D show better than the Tosca show.  Will try to post a review of the K&D show later…

i guess DC lucked out on this one, as this was the only show with the Vaselines.

I didn't realize this.  I really enjoyed the Vaselines set; too bad people at the other shows didn't get to hear them!
