saturday: NIN & Jane's Addiction & Street Sweeper @ PNC Bank Center, Holmden, NJ
sunday: Phish @ Susquehanna Bank Center, Camden, NJ

had tickets to see TVotR on friday at summerstage but decided to pass on the show… too much else going on, need at least one day/evening of productivity.  new york on a friday night is a huge hassle for me, especially since i'd have a suitcase in tow.  grumble grumble.

you're seeing phish?  somehow i didn't think they were your cup of mushroom tea.
he wants to be bored.

the people watching alone keeps me entertained for hours.  (sorry mods, i just realized why you deleted first pic.  will be more careful in future)  ;D

they're generally not, jam band really isn't my thing… but my grad school buddy is a HUGE phishead and i haven't seen him since he got married.  this is my big chance to bust him out of the house for a day.  got lawn tickets so people watching will indeed be a large portion of the entertainment for me.  insert my previous rant about it being ok to have wide musical tastes.

plus, boobies.
Boobies can make anything this side of a DMB show tolerable.

white rabbits (excellent show!)
rock plaza central / suckers
pj harvey
doves
Tonight: A Place To Bury Strangers/Caverns
Tomorrow: X in Baltimore
Tonight: NINJA in Philly (front row…woo-hoo!)
Tuesday: Beasties in Balmer

good thing, too, since you'll be covered.  it's raining cats and dogs up this way and it's not particularly warm.  going to suck for those on the lawn (or turn in to a huge mudfest).

luckily things should dry out in time for sunday's phish show.  i can only imagine what that scene would look (and smell!) like in a downpour.  actually, maybe that would wash 'em off.

i'm late on this, but, POTW
just saw NINJA….No contest who the real band is. It was an off night for Trent, weird setlist too. Jane's, on the other hand, was all meat and potatoes. Eric Avery is the most underrated musician. Hands down one of the all-time great rock bands.

i'll be seeing them tonight, can't wait.  bearman, did you catch street sweeper?  i saw them play an un-announced set a month ago at the roots late-night residency ("the jam") and i thoroughly enoyed them.  an amazing triple bill, IMO.
Or, the Whale
The Maldives (my friend is in this band)

score is now 1-1, last night belonged to NIN.  i read a couple of reviews of the camden show - some loved it, others noticed that something was off for trent & co.  not so last night - they came out and melted faces.  janes was good, although it felt like they were going through the motions a little.  dave seemed to spend more time intereacting with the hotties in the front row than with the band.  perry is a great front man, was in his element, but the lack of a GA pit hurt the energy level and interaction with the crowd.  on the other hand, no pit allowed me to be 4 feet away from the stage (all hail the efforts of thedirector and callat703 for making that happen - absolutely ridiculous seats).  the missus, who is just young enough to have missed JA's heyday, didn't quite know what to make of perry.  visually, she compared him to an old-school french gay porn star.  i think he'd take that as a compliment :)

street sweeper were, once again, thoroughly enjoyable.  morello has totally come in to his own as a guitarist.  attn NYC'ers: their album launch party is june 16th at the gramercy theater.  wish i could make it.

Pinion

they've been playing a VERY consistent set list, "i would" nowhere in sight (link)
That Janes Addiction setlist is exactly what you'd expect, it's basically their Greatest Hits CD minus Just Because and the aforementioned I Would For You…

That NIN setlist, though, is interesting. Lots of songs I didn't think they'd play/I've never seen. Not the hit-fest one would assume. Still would love them to do Perfect Drug or And All That Could Have Been live.
tvotr tomorrow
ninja on tuesday - cannot wait
No Doubt (monday)
TVOTR (wednesday)
Miami Beach (thursday-monday)
