This week rollcall

Is he the one who does all the talking, even though he's not the lead singer?

It was especially humbling to hear Will Butler constantly thank us for all the hard work we put into the campaign, telling us they were especially honored to have been asked to play this event. I will not bore you with the details of my life on the campaign, but suffice to say it has been the most memorable experience of my life. It's an experience that cannot be matched and we are reminded that we are in a sort of limbo everyday now that it's all over. As Will humorously remarked in the middle of the concert, "This is the funniest party I've been to for people who have all just lost their jobs".

i'm trying to summon the energy to shlep in to NYC to see them tonight… the impending snow/sleet storm isn't a positive influence.
I need something to do this weekend.  Something free.  I have $5 in my wallet…so a place where I can find a free drink is also a +.

Oh come on, there's got to be SOMETHING, no?
Possibly Au at Velvet tonight but I'm feeling very unmotivated right now.
And the gross weather isn't helping matters.

May I suggest you consult my list of downtempo/house-oriented DJ events (from the Distict Soul forum):

Offhand, I believe that the Fatback DJs @ Saint-Ex (Fri. 1/30) and the event at Gua-Rapo (Sat. 1/31) are free.

As for a place that lets you in for free AND gives you a free drink… I think you might be out of luck there.

Hey Bombay, me too on both counts (going Friday, first TC show).  We're meeting at El Sol next to DC9 beforehand if you want to catch up.  We normally hit DC9 after, but this is apparently a very long show…

That sounds like fun. Too bad I just can't seem to get into TC.
For this past week:
Tues: The Morning After Girls - which was beyond awesome!

Next Week:
Fri: Hypernova @ Crash Mansion
Sat: The Pains of Being Pure At Heart @ Mercury Lounge
