Melvins were so good at the Ottobar last night.  90 minute set… Lots of moshing (me included, which is rare). I loved it though!

If anyone is looking for something to do tonight, hit up the club and see some MELVINS!

My calendar for this week is empty.  Nothing until next Saturday, then a nice three day run of shoegaze, grunge, hip hop…
Landing are playing Baltimore tonite.  8)
Oh.

Then go.

Both of you.
Ha ha I am definitely not doing anything tonight.  MAYBE for tomorrow, if it isnt one of those late shows… I have never been to Galaxy Hut, at least I do not remember going.

Edit: Doors at 9, or music at 9? I have to get to DC by 9AM, not sure I want to be there for 12 + hours…
Music at 9, hopefully over by 12.
Very rare show! as Joe likes to say.
Surprised to not see Snailhook here promoting it since he is playing in Kuschty Rye Ergot.
Maybe… That still leaves me with two or three hours of nothing to do and no place to go between work and the show.
There will probably be a few of us at Galaxy Hut earlier than 9.
This new-ish (June 2012) record is much more of a dreamy dark electronic pop record than the older psych material on the Bandcamp.

Melvins were indeed awesome last night. Did they have merch at the Ottobar? They had no merch to speak of at the 9:30. JD Pinkus was making jokes about the merch situation during his Honky set. What was up?
They had a TON of merch… About five or six t shirt designs, and tour posters for the event and other events (current event and overall tour were 20 and old dates from the tour and from Melvin's Lite were 10 bucks). Also tons of rare seven inches from the 80s and CDs and stickers and original drawings…
yeah i was disappointed at the lack of merch last night. id never seen the melvins so i came to the show expecting to drop some cash on some of the sweet merch ive seen pictures of

there was even a poster made, apparently: http://insidetherockposterframe.blogspot.com/2013/08/melvins-washington-dc-30th-anniversary-poster-gumball-designs.html

great show regardless, just seemed like a weird absence
My Americanarama experience last night turned into a Grateful Dead Tribute show.

Bob Weir was on stage all night.

Final count on songs (by writer[ish]):

Bob Dylan: 17
Wilco: 9
MMJ: 8
Grateful Dead: 5
X: 1
Bruce Springsteen: 1
Woodie Gutherie: 1
how come . . . vansmack gets all the luck?

Wondering, perhaps, if the band decided not to sell merch at the 9:30 because the club takes a cut of merch sales.  I'm not sure whether the Ottobar does or not, but that could be the difference.  (Note: this is why sometimes when you see a band perform in several venues, they'll raise their prices at certain shows depending on how much of a cut the venue takes. Perhaps the band decided it wasn't worth it at the club.)
This week:

Tues - Wintersun (most likely)
Wed - Beth Orton
Thu - Midnight Eye

I bet they would have sold tons of stuff. What a shame.

Anywho…I will be down in Richmond at Strange Matter for the Year Of Shit Fest on Thursday.

Saturday I will be back at the club for Run The Jewels.
So many great options in the area Saturday!
Jay-Z and JT Thursday.
