Holy shit, Goat is playing in Newport Kentucky tonight. That's more than 500 miles away in less than 24 hours. They must have sprinted to the bus after the show ended last night.

And then they have to travel 1,100 miles in less than 2 days to get to Austin.

Maybe but there's at least 7 people in the band, not to mention any crew, and I can't imagine they're making a fortune playing places like the Back Room
sweden's government subsidize bands…..
They were on a tour with Holy Wave, (another five people) and probably had vans or a tour bus. Five hundred miles isn't that far to drive.
Jeremy Scahill book talk>Wax Idols/TV Ghost/Lorelei Monday
Gun Outfit/Fell Types Tuesday
Guillermo Pizarro, Tag Cloud, Violet/Stress Orphan/Degollado/Curses Wednesday
Wildhoney/Halfsour Friday
Deathfix/Paint Branch Saturday
Round robin improv thing at Union Arts>Daniel Bachman/Riley Walker/Marian McLaughlin/Jonathan Feffer above the bike shop Sunday
Sunday - maybe the Snails/the Art Department at black cat
Monday - If I am up to it after I finish moving, I will check out TV Ghost/wax idols/Lorelei at Beats venue.
Tuesday - HTDA/diiv at Fillmore
Saturday - I have a few maybes, and I might try to make it a double header. Dan Deacon/The Snails/Moss of Aura at current gallery backlot, Ulan Bator/tone/ Janel and Antony at velvet, and Deathfix/ Paint Branch.

Yes, it's not hard for a person to drive 500 miles. It is difficult for more than a dozen people, along with gear and equipment, to travel 500 miles. And they had to seriously hustle to get there, find the place, load in, soundcheck, etc etc etc before they're set to go on stage, with no margin for error or the show is cancelled. And then they had to immediately get back on the road and drive 1,100 miles.

In fact, they're probably racing down the road right now because that show that's 1,100 miles away is in just a few hours. In less than 96 hours, this entire group has driven at least 1,600 miles and played two shows. Maybe that's not impressive to you and maybe you've never done anything remotely like that.

I didn't say it wasn't impressive. I just said it was doable.

Johnny Marr at the club tomorrow night

Surely other bbers will be there?
Beach House was pretty decent.  Lower Dens I enjoyed most.  Seems like they have another guitarist.  Sounded different than their prior sets.  Yo Lo Tengo is one of the worst bands I have ever seen.  They should have had someone like Celebration or Wye Oak in their spot.  My suggestion to Yo Lo Tengo.  Have the women sing all the songs and stop having her play drums.  And lose the guitar guy.  He is a big negative.
If you lose the guitar guy, you probably lose the drummer too, as they are married.

You'd also lose hte guy who writes the songs.

Well the songs sort of suck. I was wondering why the women let the guy who plays guitar sing.  I guess the marriage thing is the explanation.
The best band in the world was only pretty decent?

the men on thursday is the only definite.

boris, danny brown and foals are reluctant passes this week, mostly because i'm broke.

where is that paint branch show?
peter murphy for me saturday

and m3 festival friday..because i won tickets…and my girlfriend loves kix
Not much on the radar for me this week until Saturday, which is the Breeders (9:30) and then ulan Bator/Tone/Janel & Anthony (Velvet).  I'm sure I'll find some other shows to go to between now and then, though.
