Report back after you see Anderson. I really want to go but I can't justify $45.00. I'm a bigger fan of her husband. Lou might make an appearance at the show though, he sometimes does encores at her shows.
Thurs - Mates of State, Free Energy, Nick Thune - Ottobar

re: the heartless bastards' singer who is "a looker".
don't think she's a looker but she's pretty great nonetheless.

Just found out The Heartless Bastards are playing in Baltimore tonight at the Ottobar. Anyone ever see them live? I'm tempted to go.

Hey Whippy,
Did you ever get my PMs? I sent you two that you never responded to. My Richard Thompson conversion is complete.
Today (if rain holds up) - Duncan Sheik @ Castle Clinton
Tomorrow: Caribou @ Governor's Island
Sat: Siren Fest
Sun: prob some other free show in the city.
Decided to forgo Laurie Anderson. She's playing at CSPAC in College Park in October for slightly less.

!!!! Of course that happens the year after I graduate!!!!! I still have my student ID, I wonder if I can just get a student ticket with that and hopefully they won't check to see if I graduated.
Mates of State show last night was great.  Nick Thune's stand up was funny as hell, and worked perfectly in a small club enviroment opening for bands.  He had a lot of crowd interaction and his trademark guitar playing/joke making.  Even the jokes i recently heard on his myspace page killed, and many were just enough different from what I had already heard to make me laugh.  Free Energy were ok.  I watched them on the screen by the bar.  The music didnt really do it for me.  Seemed like they were having fun though.  Mates of State were excellent like always.  They played about 12 songs.  Most were either from Rearrange Us and their new cover album Crushes, along with a couple of classics.  I wish they were doing a dc show on this tour as well, but I guess seeing them once this year will tide me over.  All in all a good night, but damn i wish it had been a weekend night.
Chrooooooooo meeeeeeeeeeeeeee oooooooooooooooo
and holy ghost!  can't wait.  :P
Black Keys at DAR tomorrow night.
Jim James, Ben Sollee and Daniel Martin Moore in Charlottesville Tuesday night.

Does DAR have a curfew? I'm trying to figure out some transportation stuff, and I'm wondering when that show might end.
Black Keys if I'm on the guest list.. I won some contest and have to go there and hope no one f'ed up
