This week rollcall

That Janes Addiction setlist is exactly what you'd expect, it's basically their Greatest Hits CD minus Just Because and the aforementioned I Would For You…

That NIN setlist, though, is interesting. Lots of songs I didn't think they'd play/I've never seen. Not the hit-fest one would assume. Still would love them to do Perfect Drug or And All That Could Have Been live.

that's been the template for this tour - JA doesn't vary at all in its greatest hits set (link), whereas "head like a hole" and "march of the pigs" are the only songs NIN have been playing consistently each night (link).  they've been playing a lot of rarities.  "hurt" was the highlight for me last night, but the whole set kicked.  monday is an off night for the tour so expect all bands to be refreshed on tuesday.  wish i could be there.
Cant wait to see NIN on Saturday late night!!!

This week:
Monday - the Decemberists (MPP)
Thurs - Sun: Bonnaroo
TVOTR/DP x2 (insert crude "dp x2" joke here)
Santigold
Jenny Lewis V. Rick Bishop Ensemble in Baltimore V. Peter Brotzmann Full Blast Trio
Rick Bishop Ensemble in Philly or Bill Callahan/Lights in DC
Jonathan Richman
monday - decemberists/andrew bird @ mpp
tuesday - tv on the radio

saturday - charm city roller girls bout :)
Damn…that NIN setlist from Saturday looks great. The Camden show was just lacking something. Trent even admitted that his head was somewhere else. I'm bummed that I saw them on an off night, but it was so cool to see Jane's absolutely shred because I'd never seen them before. I had such a good time at that concert. I repeat, I couldn't ever imagine seeing them without Eric Avery. And Stephen Perkins is just fantastic too. I hope everyone will have a blast at this. I'll give a report on the Beasties.
mon-tvotr, wed-amadou & miriam, sat-meat puppets
mon - decemberists
tues - beastie boys
friday - the posies (cant wait!)
Just the Beasties this week for me.
decemberists
tvotr/dirty projectors
aa bondy
maybe the wrong place to ask, but are tv on the radio still a studio band or have they drastically improved their live sound? debating on whether to buy a ticket for tomorrow or not.
I like their live sound (mostly because of Sitek's "less is more" approach). But yeah, their material is still rearranged live. Great show tonight except for that song "Family Tree" which sucked all the energy out of the room. Slow, plotting ballads aren't TVOTR's strong suit.

looking for reviews of Doves and Decemberists please. If there is a thread dedicated point me there. Thx.

I thought "Family Tree" was actually a highlight.  Not a big fan of that song on the album but the live arrangement was great.

Show was great and sound was good, though the vocals were buried in the mix at times.  I'm not sure if it's the evolution of their overall approach to playing live or just how they were set up last night, but I remember them being much clearer and having a lot more separation when they were at the club supporting Return to Cookie Mountain in '06.  This was more of an in-your-face-and-rocking-substantially effort from them.
I could hear the vocals fairly clearly where I was (maybe a third of the way back, stage left).
Shout Me Out was the highlight for me…my favorite studio, Dancing Choose seemed a little rushed…great crowd vibe …lots of positive energy…tremendous show!
looking forward to tonight's tvotr show…

glad i ended up at the decemberists last night too. it was a good show from start to finish and seeing hazards played through live helped the album's cause… also, going in with lower expectations since i wasn't totally sold on this last album.

another highlight was them not playing the mariner's revenge.

nice seeing ixpd + j. marshmallow, as always.  ;D
I really enjoyed the Decemberists as well.  I didnt listen to the album before the show so it would be new and i am glad i did it that way (im getting the album this week finally now that i have seen it).  It definitely was great: the pacing, the change ups, the sound, the stage set… Really top notch production.  It was really fun having it presented as an united piece (though im still a bit unsure what the actual story of the album/show is about).

I will definitely catch them again (even though its the same show) at Bonnaroo this week.    Im not sure if the show would have converted any Decemberists haters, but for fans it was definitely a treat.

It was also my best friends daughter's (10 yo) first show (that wasnt Hannah Montana).  She enjoyed the hell out of it as well, and i am glad MPP is so kid friendly. The next step is to take her to a club venue show… But that might wait awhile…

Wed. - The Decemberists - Radio City Music Hall
Fri - Josh Ritter & The NY Pops - Summerstage
agreed about "mariner's revenge"…that was overdone during the last couple tours.

…and it was nice seeing you again, ms. P (and mr. P)   :-*
