What Are You Listening To?

I've never much liked LCD Soundsystem and was absolutely bewildered by the praise Sounds of Silver got. But damn, I love the new one so far. Probably have played it 5 times in the last 24 hours. Some comment I read said it was on a Bowie/Eno trip and I can really see that.
Part My Morning Jacket and part Jayhawks, the new Band of Horses is good stuff.

I don't like LCD Soundsystem but I do like Free Energy.

I do like the new Dr. Dog. If anyone has an extra ticket, please PM me!

You still don't have a ticket?  This isn't going to help, but they were great last week.
Who HAS all the tickets?

I can't imagine scalpers went hog wild on that show, I imagine actual fans bought up all the tickets. There seems to be people trying to buy, but nobody selling. Hoping maybe somebody will have a last minute cancellation by a friend or something and hence need to get rid of one.

how is the new Fall and the new Future Islands?
Current 93 - All Dolled Up Like Christ

Listening to as much C93 as I have been lately cannot be good for a person's psyche.

New Fall is their best in a long time.

Future Islands always has and always will suck massive amounts of ass chocolate.
Magic Lantern-Platoon.  This indeed does rock.
Plenty of high hat and cowbell….

They put out two releases this year so far. I've yet to get to either.

i drove home from VT last night, so i had a lot of quality time with my ipod to catch up on music listening.  among the albums that kept me company through the night:

MGMT - Congratulations: didn't do much for me.  the 1960's farfisa-life organ bugged.  i can almost appreciate what they were trying to do, but that doesn't mean it makes for an interesting album.

The Dead Weather - Sea Of Cowards: need another listen.  some good moments but nothing that really stuck with me.  main thing that i remember from my first listen-through is "yup, sounds exactly like what i'd expect a new dead weather album to sound like".

Broken Social Scene - Forgiveness Rock Record: amazing, best thing i heard all night.  loved the synths.  can't wait for the june shows.

The Temper Trap - Conditions: yes, i'm behind the times on this one.  better late than never… at times sounded like an indie'r (and generally more interesting) version of coldplay.

Yeasayer - Odd Blood: weirded me out.  i wasn't in the mood for it, so i bailed three songs in.  will have to try again.

… and a bunch of electronic sh*t that your delicate tastes are probably better off not hearing about.
Speaking of electronic shit, which I usually have little love for, I have been digging the new Flying Lotus album quite a bit. Pretty jazzy in a 'Bitches Brew' kind of way. Probably will fade after a week or two, but its been a great late-night spin, even if anything described as "chill" makes me want to give birth.
Wry - She Science

Brasilian shoegaze band's 2009 album.

i finally got around to MGMT this week… and i like it!  i dunno, it satisfies that part of my soul that craves flaming lips / rocky horror picture show.

listening to the national - high violet.  haven't been able to give it my undivided attention, but it sounds lovely so far.
I listened to the new National album, and to me it sounded like they simply re-released the last one under a different name.
YLT's entire discography in (somewhat) chronological order.  Man, I feel like I ALWAYS over look May I Sing With Me and Painful…and then I listen to them and they rule.  MISWM through I Can Hear the Heart Beating as One…they were on a roll.
