I just came here, to post the very same thing. How, dare, you.

The Black Keys doing the North Mississippi Allstars doing Mississippi blues otherwise known as Hill Country Blues… basically the music of RL Burnside, Junior Kimbrough, etc
Again going back to what I was writing last week Jon Spencer Blues Explosion literally traveled down south 25 years ago to a shack to record with RL Burnside and couldn’t catch a break with critics who insisted on telling us it was all a joke and schtick? Why? It was the most authentic it could possibly be.. A great album

I have a soft spot for this kind of music so it’s working for me
Dan Auerbach’s voice sounds so much like Paul Rodgers from Free/Bad Company it can be disconcerting but I love Paul Rodgers so again it works for me.. I think he should have gargled some gasoline before singing.. sounds a bit too smooth.. but maybe the idea is to bring this music to the mainstream
I gave the new Black Keys a listen and it was ok, nothing I would need to own or give repeat listens to. Sounding like a broken record, think I'll stick with Dan's production output and am enjoying the Robert Finley - Sharecroppers Son album just out.

What another amazing album… Starsky, what are your long form thoughts on the rhythm section?
Well the musicians are all top knotch… you can’t argue with Sly and Robbie or Mick Taylor or Knopfler..
But for me this album doesn’t work well due to the beginnings of 80s production and I don’t listen to it.. it sucks when you have the songs and the musicians and it doesn’t work…
Union Sundown is a personal favorite… Jokerman, License, Seeetheart..all great
I think there was an amazing album to be made from these songs and others from these sessions like Blind Willie Mctell (how do you leave that out?).. I just don’t think they got there
Fortunately the outtakes have circulated for years as “Rough Cuts” and that’s a great tape!
Word is the new Bootleg Series 16 will focus on these sessions…it will be essential
Bob brought the songs..they just didn’t dress them up right
I prefer this approach

Just bought a new turntable, which has made me fall in love with vinyl all over again…I need to start digitizing some of the stuff that I can't get MP3s of.
Anyway, the Beachy Head LP arrived yesterday, and it sounds fantastic on vinyl. Also loving the new Mannequin Pussy EP.

You can't say Mannequin Pussy without saying Man Pussy.

oops was just being that eager kid in class wanting to share..
anyways they got signed over to the weekend to Epitaph Records, which prompted probably old bitter unsuccessful male punks to claim they were "sellouts"…

wait are their other types?
Epitaph not epithet
autocorrect isn't always my best friend
and EPITAPH is on bandcamp which is a good thing…
