What Are You Listening To?

Whitechapel - Mark of the Blade

Heavy
Manic Street Preachers - 4st 7lb
new rhcp - everybody just needs some summer jams sometimes.
nice work nigel and brian.
thanks thom for hanging out with flea.
wow  been listening to Augustus Pablo all day- DEEP- and wouldn't you know it that it would have been his birthday today…

anyways.. he really was so ahead of the game its RIDICULOUS..

fresh from the food bank:
oregon - crossing
ralph towner/gary burton - matchbook
laurel masse - alone together
lisa rich w/clare fischer - touch of the rare
schoenberg - transfigured night/faure - 9 chansons
bulgarian folk music on nonesuch explorer
$3 + tax
pink floyd - ummagumma reissue sides 3 & 4
it wasn't until until midway through side 3 that i realized that i had been listening to it at 45 rpm, as i had been listening to "hail to the theif" which was probably kind of a blessing due to the length and self- indulgence (of both albums).
maybe that particular radiohead album would have sounded better (and ended earlier) at 78 rpm.
caught, beck's new song on the radio, called wow.  have we, or I, already talked about this?  I found it nice and blendy of his career into one song.  ages of beck laid out in a complete experience.

You know what walky…. I've been meaning to post about this song for a couple of weeks as well. Love it and hope it's a glimpse of what's to come from Sir Beck Hansen.
i been listening a bit to the new RHCP… i know they are a big forum favorite..

I've only heard about half… but with the danger mouse or dangermouse production it def sounds different than the chilis uusually do….

i happen to always love dangermouse's production..so this is good for me…
al green - green is blues…

the reverend's run with willie mitchell is magnificent.. one great record after another..

post like it's 1991?

Dave Brubeck Quartet featuring Paul Desmond- Jazz at the Blackhawk

original red vinyl pressing..

I have a soft spot for 1950s era Brubeck….it was great seeing him at the Lincoln Theatre in 2005… of course when I think of Brubeck I also think of Paul Desmond.. they are sort of inseparable for me….Desmond even wrote Take Five (Interesting that on his death in 1977 from lung cancer he willed proceeds from that song to the Red Cross… nice chunk of change…)

anyways this copy is pretty beat but for $1 i'm happy with it… i would never pay more for a brubeck record as they are a dime a dozen…
$20 blowout

was glad to find com lag, sigur ros, monk, some explosions.
sly & the family stone - greatest hits (japanese quadraphonic)

lady wanted me to buy the whole lot (+ a crosley), but managed to get away with this, bee gees 'odessa', stones 'aftermath' (mono), 'big hits' (mono) and otis redding 'dock of the bay' for a tenner.
sly record sounds like stereo to me. refund!
sorry, meant to put this on the not dead vinyl thread.
wow nice score… congrats…

I don't do garage sales but you sure make out well with them!

I'm getting very picky about what CDs I buy now… they don't seem to have any value any more….and I've run out of space..
^ it's a total crapshoot, but sometimes you get lucky.
new neil young - earth
for a guy that's all about sound quality, this is pretty just ok soundwise (maybe I need a pono to get the full effect, but that's not gonna happen.)
tacked on choral background vocals, but the ambient wildlife and city sounds are pretty vivid (and jarring). not for the car.
willie's kid's band plays well enough, a decent crazy horse approximation.
30 minute "love and only love", a wifey favorite.
goofy concept, but "innaresting", as neil would say.
will pass on the vinyl, who knows what that will cost…no non-pono download probably.
i really enjoyed 'le noise' a few years back - great songs, concept and recording.
