Maybe my favorite musical discovery of past month
I have a few other of his records but this one is great…parts of it really remind me of Tom Waits’ Nighthawks at the Diner

New Flaming Lips. It's pretty good . . . but, then again, I worship everything that they do.
What’s good about it? What’s it like? Tell us more!
I'm at a home inspection. You'll, have to wait.

1. The song is really good because it's acoustic like, and softly melodic; not crazy out there weirdo, sort of reminiscent of the soft bulletin.
2. Oh my God yes. I have had 3 new leads just in the past few days from people from the DC area wanting to get the hell out.
I am hoping everyone moves out so I can afford my four floor dream home in DuPont

If you have listened to Chromatica . . . what is your opinion of it, as an entire album, and collective piece in her collection? So many reviews I am, hearing, that are mehish. Is it mehish? I think, it's excellent, each song it's own power, valid and appropriate. meowish, to be exact.
remembering Medgar Evers on the anniversary of his assassination
Mississippi Goddam
On June 12, 1963, American civil rights activist Medgar Evers was assassinated in the driveway outside of his home in Jackson, Mississippi
Hutch…I'd like to enlist your help on finding more info on this
I've done some googling to find out where this particular recording is from
this one is from Nina Simone – The Very Best Of Nina Simone, 1967-1972 : Sugar In My Bowl
I can't find any information about it, but it was obviously recorded after 4/4/68
at 3:00 she says 'the king of love is dead, I ain't about to be non-violent honey'
but I can't find it on any live recordings of this song in this era?
From what I can tell it was recorded at the 'nuff said! concert but left off the release
One of Simone’s most powerful concerts, captured on the ’Nuff Said! album, took place at Westbury Music Fair on 7 April 1968, three days after Dr King was shot dead. She grieved on a brand-new song called Why? (The King of Love Is Dead), then raged on a white-knuckle version of Mississippi Goddam. “The king of love is dead,” she said. “I ain’t ‘bout to be nonviolent, honey!”
also at 1.24 when she does that verse "and I even stoped believing in prayer' has always struck me as the entire inspiration of Nick Caves musical career
