What Are You Listening To?

Welp, my birthday isn’t coming for another 9 months, but seems like a great idea for the bordies to get ma as a gift
Ocean Alley. Playing FSS in August…
FFS has been booking some decent stuff after a decade of mainly booking stuff I had no interest in

DC based Birthday Girl

For a first outing its a solid album and it worth nothing it features the daughters of a couple local musicians Mabel Canty and Isabella MacKaye.

Mabel is the term for “Karen” in Argentina
Glen Campbell - Meet Glen Campbell

I stumbled upon this album from 2008 where Glen covers songs by Tom Petty, Replacements, Foo Fighters, Jackson Browne and Velvet Underground among others.  He did it with the help of Jason Falkner, Roger Joseph Manning Jr. and Robin Zander.

In one review it's noted that "Times Likes These" is arranged like "Galveston".  We all really knew it was a country song right  ;)

oh and more on me going down who did Replacements covers rabbit hole i wandered down later.
Jean Dawson

He's all over the map with regarding to genres and influences but it work well
Jelly Road by Blake Mills

I listened so you don't have too

Don't get me wrong none of these bands are unlistenable to, just not anything I would listen to on repeat.  All different forms of frantic drumming, howling vocals and distorted guitars.

Belushi Speed Ball - Trash/Speed Metal
Officer Down - English melodic punk
Black Market Kidney Surgeon - Hardcore punk
Hans Gruber & The Die Hards - this one was of the most interest, Skacore would be the best way to describe the. A bit of a harder edge version of Rocket From The Crypt.  https://hansgruberandthediehards.bandcamp.com/album/with-a-vengeance
New GBV. Strongest since maybe Warp and Woof IMO. That said, I'm a mark, so don't take my word for it!
Awesome. Going to pick it up. And get a ticket for Ottobar
See you there!
I do feel lucky that almost every GBV show at Otto are weekend shows
That dub take on Primal Scream is one of my most favorite albums

The Greenberry Woods - Big Money Item
