What Are You Listening To?

Disc one of this collection is just flat out AMAZING! That early burst of singles, b-sides and the first album from Paul & Mick are just top notch.
Okay seriously, that collection is sooo ace! I love it! I caught Paul Weller at the Style Council night he did at Irving Plaza last year, and it STILL ranks as one of the best shows I've seen in a long time.

Per this thread however, I've been listening to both of these all night:

Cocteau Twins - Blue Bell Knoll

It's not their best, but it's got some of my favorite songs of theirs like "Blue Bell Knoll", "Cico Buff", and "Ella Megalast Burls Forever".

and

Ellen Allien - Boogybytes, Vol. 4

Again, not the best of the Boogybytes compilations, but its got a really good sound to it, and I generally love Ellen's taste in picking great minimal tracks. Super fun, though!

I kinda love that I'm up and listening to this!!! Thanks for the link, azaghal!
Not a problem.

I was listening to Daedelus spin then the stream cut and now it's back. Doesn't much sound like him anymore, though.
kraftwerk - Tour de France Soundtracks

okkervil river - the stand-ins.

after one listen i dont think its nearly as good as the stage names but some good gems.
the new James is pretty good :)
Gave the new Conor Oberst a spin a little while ago. Solid straight-forward alt-country; the angsty bitchness has all been stripped away (not that I don't like Lifted and I'm Wide Awake) which makes sense; he is getting older.

Then put on another new Carlos Giffoni LP. It had its moments but is no Eternal Noise.

Now: Magnetic Fields - The Wayward Bus.

Nice to hear these guys again, but as their sound has progressed, my liking for them has declined. The 3-album arc of Random Noise-Bursts through Mars Audiac to Emperor Tomato is just superb. But once they started using the vibes, it all kind of went pants up for me. So where there used to be droney noise waves, now it's happy horns, twinkly vibes and bouncy rhythms. Nothing wrong with that, but it's not what I look for with this band.
