Tom Waits- Nighthawks at the diner

Imgbb seems down so pic will follow

I think if I could have  only one early Waits album this would be the pick of the litter
prompted by a friend's tweet it's T.Rex and Adam Ant day

This has to be one of the last covers David Stone Martin did for Verve record label owner Norman Granz….1959

The most important band of the 1970s had trouble selling records in the US so the originals of this invariably ended up in the cutout bin and feature a cut corner….

They still get little credit in these parts….
The still-sealed Roxy Music complete discography vinyl boxset I found on eBay for $40 because the guy mislisted it as Rozy Music remains one of my all-time best purchases.
Willie Nelson - Stardust

Background on this one is there is a great segment in the “This Is Pop” music doc series on Netflix where Booker T talks about how it came together and ended selling 5 million copies… Turns out the episode called “When Country Goes Pop” might been my favorite of the series

Quite a score!

And, yes, Roxy Music has aged really well…

Lavoe is one of the great singers. Well worth checking out if you have any interest in salsa and can handle non English lyrics. But you wouldn’t start here…I would recommend a compilation of his work with Willie Colon if you can find one…

For sure. Those super pricey Bryan Ferry tickets from right before the pandemic were worth every cent. Band was a decade too early.

Such a great album and the point where everybody - country music fan or not-realizes what a great singer Willie is….

His version of Stardust is one of the best -sorry for redundancy- of one of the very best American songs…. Up there with Nat King Cole

My favorite Nina Simone album.

Kurupt FM - Greatest Hits (Part 1)

still one of the best things i stumbled upon on Netfilx, the People Just Do Nothing crew continue to entertain me and i'm taking chance on getting a copy of this from the UK, because the signed vinyl looks legit fire…

Pretty unsatisfactory trip to record store… did get this for $3 and a Jackson Browne bootleg for the same

Flo and Eddie were in the Turtles…. They did some amazing backing vocals for T Rex… this does remind me a bit of Supergrass which is a good thing
They had a shitload of copies of the new Lorde…

It is well known how much I hate buying reissues but in this case I just gave up and did so about a year ago…great album

Best 🐪 toe LP cover shot
Orla Garland - Woman On The Internet

checking this one after they did a twitter listening party for it and i'm intrigued.. wish i was better at RIYL, but i suspect fans of 90s female rock/pop will enjoy this..
Arlo Parks, now that Phoebe is postponed.
