What Are You Listening To?

William Tyler 'Modern Country'
This is really good instrumental music, liking it a lot. I usually don't go for this kind of thing but it's pretty compelling.
Bernie Sanders & Thurston Moore - Feel It In Your Guts
Friday sludge fest with The Melvins: "Basses Loaded"

I don't tend to go for jazz anymore but I couldn't resist this session from 1961, for $1, cause its quite a lineup: Blakey, Shorter, Merritt, Lee Morgan and Bobby Timmons plus Curtis Fuller…original impulse orange/black label…

I'm not sure why Blue Note allowed him to record this session for Impulse while he was still with them..

Glad I saw Wayne Shorter and Curtis Fuller on separate ocassions..
Titus Andronicus' Primavera Festival set, and then Dino Junior's set.
Mel Brown The Wizard also on Impulse.. interesting jazz guitarist I was not familiar with….pretty good.. Impulse is one of those labels that for $1 I'll try anything….up to about 1970-71 the sound quality was superb, the records high quality pressigs, most beautiful gatefolds in the business (they were the first label by my count to really push -consistently- for beautiful looking product in high quality gatefold format (early 60s)
Cough - Still They Pray

I love the sustained fuzzed out guitars on this.

What is your obsession with running commentary on everything I post?

"Running" commentary.. I'm not running…sitting in my purple chair listening to David Ruffin..

White Zombie - It Came From N.Y.C.
ian hunter - all american alien boy
did not really enjoy this album at the time, his new york album, missed ronson.
but the songs are stellar, so dylanesque. apologies to hutch for the dylan grief earlier this week.
that jaco solo on the title track is unimpeachable. as are the solos by sanborn and gary weems. what a session that must have been.
that jaco doc is a must-see.
you're fine man… but Sidebitch is screwed! :)
^ that's a relief.
bowie - blackstar (again)
it's been kind of an emotional week.
