I'm waiting on my copy (signed CD from Newbury).. fascinating Nels Cline with Terry Gross (sic) NPR show yesterday.. well worth listening to if you look it up on NPR or wherever… really interesting stuff….they played two songs from the new album on the show.. one sounded nice.. one sounded pretty dire…

Peace and Love- Dadawah

great jam session organized and put out by Norman Granz, one of the heroes of jazz…

everybody plays on this motherfucker….but of course Charlie Parker kind of rules….

I love these David Stone Martin covers..I wouldn't say I collect them but when I see them I like to snap them up..

found this one for $1…. and its in great shape.. amazing..I had to dig pretty hard for it though…so who is on this?

bird, oscar peterson, hodges, ben webster, benny carter, flip phillips, kessell, ray brown, charlie shavers and jc heard … geez louise talk about a lineup…

this was a gift .. .literally.. the record store put it out front in a freebie pile cause I guess they thought it was too banged up…I cannot believe they did that.. just look at the cover!… what can I say? people are crazy…. .it has some issues but not bad at all… original Impulse mono orange black label….

anyways, what is there to say about this album.. I guess the best way to characterize it would be that at a time I did not like jazz at all I purchased it on cd- I still remember, at the Tysons Corner Tower about 22 years ago- put it in my nice car stereo and was blown away….some records transcend their genres and this is one of them…I have a few original copies.. I'm partial to the mono which is always the case with Rudy Van Gelder for me… and I know some people make technical arguments why I am wrong.. people who understand mixing/engineering/sound far better than I do but it is what it is…
Lady Gaga - the Fame

one of the nicer gatefold covers I have ever seen…and looks like I managed to take a decent picture…which was not easy.. Bay Area latin rock band Malo's third album Evolution.. Jorge yes JORGE Santana on guitar…. on Warner BS 2702.. One thing I noticed a long time ago about Warner is that they have really good sounding recordings….so Warner became one of those record labels I snap anything up.. this was purchased at Joe's Record Paradise new location…
Jimmie Rodgers - Train Whistle Blues RCA LP

one of the seminal figures in American music.. probably largely unknown today..

Bob Dylan started a record label about 15 years ago and his first project was a tribute to Jimmie Rodgers cd…. I guess if people know anything about him it would be that he was the singing yodeler or the blue yodeler… Its a pretty clear line between Jimmie and Hank Williams (at least to me).. I wouldn't put many people on his level in terms of influence back in the 1930s….Robert Johnson for sure..
Faith No More - King for a Day… Fool for a Lifetime (Remastered Deluxe Edition)

<3

The remaster sounds great.  I was hoping it would; KFADFFAL is my favorite record by FNM.  I hope the bonus tracks are good…
