What Are You Listening To?

Tortoise V. The Scientist live 6/3/04

I'd give anything for a lossless copy of this.

Can't find one anywhere.
Monk/Coltrane - Live at Carnegie Hall
The Matthew Herbert Big Band - There's Me and There's You

Really cool album so far.

Old-timy swingy jazz peppered with a variety of different electronic sound/music samples.
Six Organs of Admittance 1/24/08 Iota

So happy I decided to go to this over Shadow/Cut Chemist.
I haven't been listening to much alt-country lately and I've never been a Kasey Chambers fan…but her new album with her husband Shane Nicholson is excellent.

see review here: http://www.smh.com.au/news/cd-reviews/rattlin-bones/2008/04/18/1208025460112.html

What else? I'm liking the new retro soul album from Tony Toni Tone frontman Raphael Saadiq: http://www.vibe.com/music/revolutions/2008/09/raphael_saadiq_the_way_i_see_it/

I'm listening to a bunch of Astrud Gilberto recordings.

I'm listening to Shearwater's Rook and their new Snow Leopard e.p.

I'm listening to Jeff Tweedy's live solo record (thanks to the dvd and to NKOTB for reminding me to grab it).

I'm listening to Nouvelle Vague and the Talking Heads.

That's what's on tap for today.

I'm seeing Nicole Atkins in a couple weeks at the RnR Hotel and I'm pretty psyched. Her cd is really great.

Over the last few months I've found myself listening to Ecstasy alot. I think it's my favorite Lou album.
it's not gonna change the world or anything but this is one of the better power pop albums I have come across this year

Jeff Mangum - Live at King's Arms

His recent touring (he's been on that Holiday Surprise thing since the Pitt show I think) got me to give it a first spin in a long time.
PJ Harvey - Rid of Me
so the new cure album, "4:13 dream", is out.

anyone heard it yet?

funny that it's cheaper to buy as un-DRM'ed MP3s through amazon than it is through DRM-crippled iTunes.
Broadcast - Noise Made by People

I think I said this in this thread already but this band needs to put out some new stuff soon!
Yussuf Jerusalem - A Heart full of Sorrow

Lo-fi fuzzed out pop in the vein of the current Siltbreeze roster (Pink Reason, Psychedelic Horseshit, Eat Skull, etc.)

Me likey. Well except for the weird black metal intro track that sticks out like a sore thumb.

Next:
Love is All - A Hundred Things Keep me up at Night
Marnie Stern covering Journey!

I'm afraid to click.

Will it make me fall out of love with Ms. Stern?
The Damned - So, Who's Paranoid?

Crystal Stilts - Alight of Night

Eagles of Death Metal - Heart On
Is that Crystal Stilts album better than that generic sounding album with the inaudible vocals that came out earlier this year?
I'm a bit geeked out on her, so I'm probably biased, but I think it's a pretty killer cover. I was reading somewhere that she's never (or rarely) learned someone else's song, so this is a first. It actually keeps her style while still being highly recognizable as Journey. Maybe a treat for her DC9 show?
