What Are You Listening To?

yeah outside of a couple of their future hits these tracks are pretty ragged…
I read somewhere that new order ripped off Bobby Orlando’s Passion for Blue Monday but not sure I buy it

Found this yesterday at a Goodwill for $1.99! The 1982 Brazilian reissue. Nearly died of shock. This was definitely one of my white whales and I had resisted buying one of the newer reissues that are going to be sourced from the CD.. I believe this is from a BBC radio collection that got donated…. I found it along with 20 world music albums (African). Nothing incredible, mainly mid 80s American label releases of South African music when I guess Graceland hit and everyone was capitalizing on this trend.

Nothing incredible,

Bandalos Chinos - Vándalos

since they were on my mind I went to listen to El Big Blue an album i'm enjoying at the moment and noticed their new was out.. definitely dancefloor friendly and on the tracks jumping out at me is El Ritmo.  Starts out with a great bouncing bassline and by the end transitions into a Chemical Brotheresque banger.

Spent almost a week out in Nevada, hanging with my brother-in-law and his wife.  Their cars were all set to some live Grateful Dead Sirius XM stations.  That shit sucks!

I don’t know what you mean!

Anyway

You start out basically calling it a grail record then by the end you say it isn't really anything special, man.

Oh no it’s definitely a grail record. It’s Brazilian tropicalia. It’s the tropicalia manifesto record with songs by Caetano, Gil, Gal, Nara, Os Mutantes….its a very cool record.

The OTHER stuff I dismissed. The African music. And all I meant was they aren’t like highly collectible African pressings of Fela or what have you. A lot of made for the West comps. Musically I will have to listen to them to tell and of course I bought them all. I just meant they are not rare African African funk records or something.

So good. Picked up from that record store on Capitol Hill.

Seems to be a legit reissue from 2024.

Spin Time? I really like that store.
Yeah! It’s amazing for reggae or DC music. And the prices are reasonable.

The reggae stuff they had blew me away.

In the immortal words of the Terminator “I’ll be back.”
I'm a sucker for any band with a wacky/screwball name so of course I'm going to checkout

fuck yeah, dinosaurs!

if you are into Skate Punk with songs about dinosaurs, beer, and more dinosaurs then this band hailing from Pittsburgh is for you!

always a good sign 11 songs in 22 minutes..

I can’t believe how much people dislike this… it’s a good album..if you like JAMC

This first review is classic
I can’t remember a single thing about this album and I listened to it two hours ago.

The JAMC is a slightly better JAMC album than Songs from lost world is a Cure album.

It’s just that nobody wanted a new JAMC album.
