It really is amazing. Maybe his best….
It’s sad though because it really lays it out there for all to see…the pain and humiliation he was feeling…the end of the line….
At the same time it’s a monumental achievement to have been able to create Purple Mountains after having thrown in the towel. In a way it’s a parting FU to the world: “You see? Even on my worst day I can still do this.”
A lot of credit to the musicians who were able to create a lot of the musical framework upon which Berman could hang his poetry.
I hope Cassie has found happiness.

Rather harsh review… however, a doctor dog album hasn't blown me aways since Shame, Shame… Maybe Be the Void.
