What Are You Listening To?

Daft punk- RAM

There are some magnificent drums recorded on this… the Moroder track is 🔥
Franz Ferdinand - The Human Fear

Another solid B/B+ album from them and definitely the most ambitious arrangement and sound wise.  Standout tracks after a couple listens the electrofunk inspired "Hooked" and middle eastern influence "Black Eyelashes".  The rhythm section is a rock solid as ever with new drummer Audry Tait on board.  And someone pointed out even if the songs are necessarily naughty, Alex just sings them that way.  Will be watching for the lets do a digital download deal to help boost into the charts offer

So cool..his third lp (1956).

There are no perfect comparisons but I would liken Atahualpa Yupanqui to say a Woody Guthrie (with a touch of Alan Lomax or Harry Smith). Pivotal figure in his country’s folk music.

Hoping this will help warm me up!

Shake it off at my kids orthodontist
Speaking of The High Strung who are a still active despite basically settling back into the Detroit area. I was aware of their Address Unknown album that came out in 2023, but today learned about a 20 year old Lost Album that was released in 2022.  Prior to recording their first proper album "These Are Good Times" they recorded an album as a sort of warmup exercise which sat unreleased until it was found in their archives of stuff during the pandemic.

Wow - I haven't thought about The High Strung in nearly 20 years. I had no idea they were still around, much less so productive.

Since they primarily stick to FaceBook I rarely see what they are up to and I forgotten that the main guy Josh Malerman was a published author whose book "Bird Box" was made into a NetFlix movie.

I find a lot to like in these albums of standards by Bob.

Hearing Bob tackle the great American songbook like when he sings “As time goes by” interests me.
