What Are You Listening To?

Likewise.  Went to pick up new Parquet Courts album at Soundgarden and apparently Bob and company were there earlier that morning.

Also listening to new Parquet Courts which has elements of Remain in Light on some songs.

Today, this morning?
That is what the guy behind the register said.  They weren't playing…just perusing.  The ironic thing is the new GBV album was not available there.

Bob lives for hitting up record shops

I hope they gave him the special treatment

He will usually sign a few things and walk out with a bundle of records and my guess is he gets a nice discount. I often see record stores post pictures of him at their store.
Only thing surprising is how early Bob got to Baltimore…..

the comments are gold.  "This, friends, is how you polish a turd." "I set this as my alarm and now I wake up 30 minutes earlier everyday so that i dont have to listen to it"
Nico - The Marble Index
Duran Duran - Future Past

enjoying this one, they are working with plenty of interesting collaborators on it and it shows

also the new Jarvis Cocker collection of French Covers done for the new Wes Anderson movie is also well done… Tip-Top - Chansons d’ennui

Madonna - Madonna

After having read all about the influence of the New York City danceteria (club) scene -which included a young Madonna-on my favorite band New Order (from both Sumner and Hook, Morris outstanding)I am listening to this one with more attention and fresh ears and wouldn’t you know it I totally hear New Order here..it’s hard to replace Madonna ‘s voice with Sumner but if you do it - on some tracks(notBorderline which is an outlier) you can totally imagine big parts of the backing tracks as New Order…the synths and programmed drums…which is bizarre

the New Order guitar is more post punk (not funky like Madonna)  married to Ennio Morricone as is the bass… but the drums and synths in early new order are very similar to the Madonna record that broke her… madonna’s voice is so different and the fan bases of both from different planets I doubt many people put two and two together

* actually I even hear it on Borderline

interesting…never connected the two…will have to relisten
