What Are You Listening To?

The Feeling - Loss. Hope.  Love.

latest album from a UK group that got one shot at breaking the US market which didn't pan out… which makes a bit sad as they write solid pop rock songs…
His Lordship - All Cranked Up E.P

H/T Chrissie Hynde/The Pretenders twitter…

James Walbourne who is currently on  lead guitar for The Pretenders has a new group and so far it's indeed Maximum Rock N' Roll

This EP isn't on Bandcamp, but an intriguing covers album done in one take is

also James has quite an interesting resume beyond The Pretenders…

Half of the group The Rail, also played with The Pernice Brothers, Son Volt, Ray Davies solo band and the Pogues among others.
Mavis Staples - Time Waits For No One

Primarily produced and written by Prince this one just popped up on the evil streaming services…  originally release in 1989

String bean Jean!

Amazon had this for $10 free shipping with Prime. Tough to resist. Last dance with Mary Jane originally came out on this as a new track to hook people to buy this…what a track!

Amazon has some amazing deals…I recently got the Wildflowers 7 LP box for $80.

It’s just hard to stay on top of it.
the 2022 Belle and Sebastian: Tiny Desk Concert
Lots of Yes today - Pre-90125
While listening to The Routes twangy take on Kraftwerk, I suddenly remembered the Senor Coconut album El Baile Alemán ("The German Dance" in Spanish) which is covers done in Latin American styles.

And from the Wikipedia article I like this footnote about why one of the tracks on the original release was removed

[Florian Schneider] said they really liked the work I did, which was quite an honour, of course, but they didn’t like my version of “Radioactivity” and they would really like not to see that released. I tried to convince them that it would be a good idea to release it actually and they got a bit stiff on that.
More Senor Coconut

This one is Señor Coconut And His Orchestra – Around The World With Señor Coconut And His Orchestra

Now working with live musicians this one reworks a variety of songs in various Latin American styles.

This arrangement of Prince's Kiss is outstanding

Beso
Been listening to these guys a lot… catching up with more recent albums

Tosca is the project from Dorfmeister- of K & D- and Huber

For some reason these guys really hit the spot for me
This thread, is also . . . a conspiracy theory.
Filling out my Nina collection…just a handful left to go…

This live album from 1974…her last for RCA…her last before she left America… is badass

Thanks for clarifying.

"Tosca is the project from Dorfmeister- of K & D- and Huber"

Yay! Got the new one!

Luckily no singing ..but one track…lots of vocal samples which I don’t mind

I can’t believe these guys are still going… closing in on three decades

They look like the sprockets dudes from SNL on cover
Right now it’s the new Working Men’s Club album Fear Fear

But, earlier it was the new Lizzo “Special” on repeat

Legally I’m not allowed to use the words “ It Slaps” and has the bops, but it does  ;D

Will definitely have “Is Your Birthday Girl” bouncing around in my noggin in a day or so.  Also busting out the 70s funky dance moves for “Everybody’s Gay”
The Heavy Heavy - Life and Life Only

shamelessly lifting from the Guardian review

If you’re going to play retro music well, you have two choices. You put an intriguing spin on your anachronisms. Or you create something that feels like it could be a lost classic from your chosen era. Brilliant new Brighton-based rock quintet the Heavy Heavy do both. There’s an obvious kinship with the comforting close harmony psych, folk and blues of the 60s, but they write and play music with that lick of madness that makes early Fleetwood Mac and peak Stones so thrilling.

I continue listening to Tosca…a lot…right now the JAC mix cd Souvenirs which is actually better than JAC….
