What Are You Listening To?

Might seem unbelievable, but I'm listening to Matthew Sweet's Girlfriend for the first time today.  I was dumb for not listening to it sooner.

I'm revisiting 2001 today:

Weird. I listened to that album this morning, too, for the first time in years…

Are you going to the Girlfriend tour? Im assuming he's doing it everywhere, but they added more dates in NYC. Cant wait. Will be awesome. I was listening to it yesterday as well :) Good stuff.

It's tonight at the Birchmere and it's sold out. No worries, I saw it 20 years ago.

I didn't even know it was a thing.  If I did, I probably wouldnt have gone.  I think I've reached my fill of "BAND X plays ALBUM Y in its entirety."  Unless it was "Ween" and "The Pod."

Today feels like a 1986 day:

the new tom waits one… mainly side 2 cause i'm too lazy to turn it around.
Bad As Me is terrific. Kinda reminds me a lot of In Rainbows in a roundabout way. While I wouldn't call it his best material, it's a fantastic, relatively concise overview of everything he's good at. Hell Broke Luce is song of the year material.

I really hope he tours. I've never seen him.
Can someone explain the appeal of listening to Tom Waits grunt? The music is marginally interesting, but for me the grunting is just impossible to listen to. He started out as a bit of a singer-songwriter crooner and was pretty decent back in the 70's, but now…no thanks. At least there's a few songs on the new one where he's not grunting.

A good question would be when was the last time Tom Waits played Washington DC? I can't recall him ever playing here… From Google I see he played the Warner Theatre, twice, in late 1987.
Dead Skeletons

Dead Magick

An insanely good album from Iceland that I've been waiting to be released in CD format for a long time.

I'm liking Waits most recent but do not understand the Hell Broke Luce adoration.
finally bought bjork's new one.

it was so scandalous bying a cd from the store, but i bonus tracks.

i thought i was going to hate it, but am in love with it.  space, water and crystals and her voice that makes me drive off the road.

My purchases this afternoon.
