Aesop Rock - the Impossible Kid

Damn why was I sleeping on this dude?  I had one album back in the day that I think I did not either like, or give enough time to like.  This one is instantly likeable.

Aesop is one of the best wordsmiths in hip-hop. Its never too late to get into him. Have you heard the "None Shall Pass" album yet? Its amazing. Even his early stuff like Music For Earthworms is great. I do need to hear The Impossible Kid, I have been sleeping on that one haha. He's coming to 9:30 this year as well.
No, the only other one I had heard was Bazooka Tooth when I bought it was in 2004.  I did not like it so I quit paying attention to him.  I plan on checking some of his other music later.
JPEGMAFIA - Black Ben Carson

I love this album…
Drake - Views  8)

Edit: I am halfway done with this.  I will have to finish the rest later.  It is really good.  Very chill (though that is a negative for my friend, I dont mind) and with tight production.
I was at a bar. They played the ramones and the sex pistols all night.  Fuck, yeah.

yes, I think Butch Vig gave Tad's sound just enough polish without it sounding like a super slick studio job (read Nevermind and Siamese Dream)

I am loving how you got all this TAD stuff Bob. I wish I had all of their discography. J. Mascis did a great job on Inhaler as well. Its slick but also heavy and rugged. Have you seen the TAD documentary? Its fascinating.

Killsaly, I am listening to The Impossible Kid at this late hour. Its awesome. Aesop continues to impress.

yeah, the documentary is great, if you haven't seen the Mudhoney "I'm Now" doc, check that out. between the two it gives a great overview of the whole Seattle/Sub Pop thing. In fact, until I watched the doc, I had no idea this version of the album cover had been recalled for legal reasons.

I think Tad (and this album) is a favorite because he was my first intro to something other than hardcore punk. A friend gave me a copy of this and Bleach in early '91 and it took a while for it to sink in, but after seeing both Nirvana and Tad live it changed everything. Plus they're they underdog, the underrated, and the left-behind of the Seattle bands.
bob72 I pronounce you our Subpop expert in residence…

I was not planning on going to the 930 Club show, but might go after hearing that album…

new to me, grittier than usual, can't go wrong with this era.
caught the tail end of one of his tabernacle services a few years ago, preaching/singing, that voice, an experience worth seeking out.
