Bacchae - Next Time

Great new album from a local new band produced by J. Robbins. Seems like a natural nkotb album,  might even tickle sidestuff’s fancy

Nice write up in Stereogum and definitely hear shades of Velocity Girl and Tuscadero.  As well as the touch of 80s new wave.

This plus the Ekko Astral and forthcoming Bad Moves album makes for a great year of new local music

Linda Thompson - Proxy Music

Due Linda not being able to sing due to  spasmodic dysphonia, she wrote the songs for this record primarily with son Teddy and then brought together a number of guest singers to record them.

Thus the inspired album title and equally inspired cover art.  Along with Teddy, daughter Kami is featured on a number of songs.

I would hope not, this is awesome and is a sincere form of flattery
how many copies will this sell, 12?
I'd love to be a fly on the wall when hutch is spinning George Michael at the casa.

It's funny, he puts on a french maid outfit and starts dusting

I snorted.
Pretty sure George Michael was on my top 100 artists tablet!

Older is his greatest achievement albumwise….

It’s a shame he became so unhappy and troubled….I don’t know if it was Anselmo’s death, the weed leading to panic attacks, his difficulty negotiating fame, accepting himself, God or what but after Wham he just seemed to get steadily more troubled. Maybe he would have been happier as a bricklayer. Didn’t Frank Sinatra write an editorial chastising him for his failure to appreciate his situation?

I think he was the finest singer of his generation. His versions of Somebody to love or duet with Elton on Don’t let the Sun go down on me are goosebump inducing.

Yeah, well, George Michael outlived Frank by like 18 years so check and mate, mate.

Sinatra died at 82. I have it on good authority that GM did not make it to 100.
I think mixing dates up is what the kids are into or something…like this:
