What Are You Listening To?

Power Pop isn't usually associated with Protest songs, but local favorites Starbelly have pulled one together socially distanced

Fantastic stuff…Danny Thompson wails on upright bass

Is it wrong, to love alternative rock and hipster bs . . . but also worship Aerosmith?
It’s only wrong to love hipster BS
How, dare, you. Lol.

I also,  am jamming serious to some huey lewis and the news.
Huey Lewis Sports is one of my favorites

I read this great story recently about how Ray Parker Jr ripped them off on Ghostbusters..look up the song on Wikipedia
The Moons - Pocket Melodies

Latest album from The Moons Lead by Andy Crofts and Ben Gordelier who also currently play bass and drums in Paul Weller's band.  Recorded live at Abbey Roads Studio, it's a collection of 60s pop, folk and soul inspired songs.  Gonna be on repeat for sure..

The missing Eno album finally acquired yesterday

What a great year 1977 was for Eno

Although I can’t find a definitive date for recording of Music for Airports I think it was late 1977
Going down a bit of a Beastie Boys hole after watching their doc on Apple+  fun little doc by the way, it's a stage show with Mike D and Ad Rock introducing and commenting on clips from their career

i've always been partial to the instrumental records they released along side of their regular albums..
Bowie - Young Americans
Hunky Dory

I don’t listen to enough Satchmo

This is so good
ATCQ - Anthology

I feel so much, gayer, that I have discovered this song called . . . "Lola's Theme" by The Shapeshifters
Neil Diamond- Gold

This is hard to listen to….
Looks like I have a little catching up to do.. Seeing Ric Menck's name as drumming with Matthew Sweet reminded me of his old band Velvet Crush and that amazing record they put out called "Teenage Symphonies To God".  Looks like I wasn't completely following all they did afterwards, as I see a couple more Velvet Crush albums I most have missed… plus some solo Ric albums
Ric Menck was the drummer for the Pernice Brothers the last time i saw them. Prior to that, their drummer was Mike Belitsky, who also drums for the Sadies. And plays drums on this track…

The first recording by Neil Young's brother.

Hitting the spot!
So good. I recently purchased Fire of Live from Porterhouse Records but haven’t given it a spin yet.
It’s going to be a Fountains Of Wayne kinda of day…
