[Paul Westerberg - "49:00"]

really fantastic album, one of my favorites of the year

weird that this was pulled from that $.49 amazon download promotion, is he prepping it for a full-on album release?
49:00 is great. It's such a random assortment of tunes, all kind of thrown together.

Pulled my LP of the below the other night and enjoyed it immensely. Went on a hunt and found a DL-able version on the intermeshes and am enjoying it still.

Watching/listening to
this.

Been a casual fan of chiptunes (especially Bit Shifter and Nullsleep) for a while and had no idea this doc existed.

Edit: it's only available for a few more hours.
Never been a fan of them before, but I'm really digging the new Walkmen album. Right in time to see tham at Bumbershoot next Saturday.

Also like the new Stereolab. A bit warmer and poppier than their older stuff, which to me is a bit tedious after a few songs.
CLOUDLAND CANYON - Lie In Light (2008, Kranky)
Awesome krautrock influenced psychedelic rock from Memphis/Brooklyn duo.

THE LOW LOWS - Shining Violence (2008, Monontreme/Misra)
Psychedelic americana shoegaze pop from Austin, TX.

QUEST FOR FIRE - S/T (2008, Storyboard)
Epic stoner psych rock from Toronto. Ex-Deadly Snakes.

CRYSTAL ANTLERS - S/T EP (2008, Self-Released)
Psych/Grunge Rock from Long Beach, CA. Reminds me of the 80's/90's UK band
Walkingseeds or maybe Mudhoney on acid.

Lew Rockwell's podcast.
Did you catch Cloudland Canyon at the Velvet earlier this year?
They put on a more rock-oriented show than their studio work would lead you to think.
New Squarepusher track

Is that Brian Chippendale I hear on drums?
Of Montreal - Skeletal Lamping

No, unfortunately not. Living several hundred miles from there makes it more difficult each year it seems to hit all the shows I'd like to. More rock oriented huh?
Yeah.

And the Kohoutek set with one of them was solid, too.
Spacier than most Kohoutek sets I've heard.

And the opener, Flying Eyes (younger band from College Park I think) was impressive too.
high-quality version of radiohead's House of Cards video (80 Mb MOV). the google/youtube version looses a lot of the visual detail and the sound is predictably icky. this version fixes both issues.
Ponytail - Icecream Spiritual

They've become a tight solid instrumental band. I just wish they'd lose that girl who shrieks like a kitten in pain without saying anything. I mean if she were shrieking lyrics, they'd have an excuse to keep her around. Is she the girlfriend of one of the bandmembers and did she force herself into the band that way?
She ruins the whole thing and it's too bad because the rest of the band is good.
Secret Chiefs 3 - Book of Angels Vol. 9 (all compositions by John Zorn)

Nice so far.
