Despite the misleading title, by my count, this is the first studio album (1980) by Piazzolla’s “new tango quintet”

This “band” would go on to record Tango zero hour 6 years later in NYC which is definitely a top 100 record for me. It’s astounding stuff and if you haven’t heard it you must:

I have a pretty solid tango collection but my first new year’s resolution is to deepen my collection by classic tango artists like Gardel, Piazzolla, Goyeneche, Rivero, Troilo and Salgan and fill in gaps.

This is the hardest to find of James Brown’s Christmas albums. My copy is really scratched up

Not one copy of the original US pressing on eBay. A handful on discogs

I think this album must have sold 5-10k tops when it came out in 1970.

A decade ago there was a two cd issue that compiled all his Xmas stuff…

Glad to score this 8 LP set for $148. I thought it was out of print and I had missed out. My guess is not too many copies are left…. This is tremendous.

The matrix is a dinky club too.  Building is (was in 2008) still there and the club closed in 1972
Some lame restaurant reopened there called The MatrixFillmore  little smaller than U st


edit two new updates
In 2017, the club name was changed back to The Matrix, described as a casual neighborhood bar with DJs and dancing on weekends.[1] In 2019, The Matrix was remodeled and renamed the White Rabbit.

I have almost completed my Yma Sumac  collection.. I think I am missing an obscure record from 1961

This is actually a Peruvian pressing which is mildly neat given she was originally from there
