What Are You Listening To?

big ups - eighteen hours of static
first one off of the new Wye Oak
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1UUqrGn2B0

(like i said before, NO more guitar.  jenn is playing bass and drummer is now doing lead melodies on synth while drumming instead of doing basslines)

i LOVE the new sound

Was expecting something a little darker than this for some reason.  It's not bad at all, just not what I thought it'd be.

So no guitar live, either?

It's good but I suspect that I'll like the rest of the album better.  Kind of worked out that way with their last one, too.

Nope.  Jenn on bass/vocals.  Andy on drums/synth/backup vocals.

so basically they don't wanna people seeing them this tour?
::)

What is wrong with changing up a bands sound?  Does everything need to always sound the same?  Can a band not experiment or change?  I love Wye Oak, and love the new sound and cant wait to see them again.
Nothing wrong - progression is always welcome, often applauded.

What they've apparently changed into is not something that would normally get me out to the club, though.  It's fine to listen to, but I'll need to hear more before I buy tix.
i expect people will want their downloads, for free, now.

I kind of agree.  Jenn's guitar playing is  one of the things that I love about them.
