What Are You Listening To?

All the big chains in the UK demanded a black slip cover over the CD as it was considered "inappropriate".

It's the same artist who did the Holy Bible artwork (which this record is heavily compared to)

I can see why the new album art would be a bit controversial.  But man…that is a nice painting. And the Holy Bible cover painting looks interesting as well. Who did them?
Jenny Saville
New Jets Overhead album is very good.  They list their influence as Pink Floyd, The Velvet Underground, Radiohead, The Mamas and the Papas, CSNY, Fleetwood Mac, Spiritualized….  70s psych rock/folk paired ambient to noisier  post punk/shoegazer arrangements all work really well if you as me.

Dean & Britta - Dean Wareham & Britta Phillips are former members of the band Luna. Their current live show is a multi-media presentation, where Dean and Britta perform onstage with their band, while Andy Warhol's silent screen tests from The Factory are projected overhead.
Not for the DC, Philly, and NYC shows. It will be a regular show.

kind of in a bit of a music/gig rut right now, so no

I think the last gig I saw for pleasure was pains of being pure at heart
however in a nice twist of fate I'll be in Chicago 7/1 and they are playing the Empty Bottle so I think I have found my entertainment for the evening there

I'm liking this…

Pretty killer setlist. World Looks Red sounded brutal.
Based on only having heard their last two albums and her two solo albums, I assumed they were an act that put out albums with a few great songs and lots of filler.

But alas, this one is excellent from start to finish.

Pajo - Scream with Me

This is pretty great, in a hilarious way.  I can't tell if it makes he think Danzig's lyrics are stupidly awesome or awesomely stupid.  Either way, it's amazing how sweetly he sings "I'll put a knife…right in you."
awww, i love it!!! I miss Grandaddy already!
