What Are You Listening To?

VU and Nico

In a dark mood…

Gotta say Femme Fatale and I’ll be your mirror could have easily been sung by Lou but she makes All Tomorrow’s Parties… I can’t imagine anyone else singing that
The Byrds - Sweetheart of the Rodeo

My favorite byrds

Always tempted to get the 4lp RSD expanded edition box…

The new VU movie looks really good…
so much incredible footage from the trailer alone
apparently the hatch-hold is buying appleTV+ tonight

I could totally see lou singing I'll Be your Mirror
Looking at setlist.fm he only played it live twice before 1979, then became a regular part of his set
in fact he ended the show with it at one of my favorite 9:30 club shows

to me this cover version is the best, if someone has a better one, let me have it
Neil Young- Down in the Rust Bucket (Live)
If you watch Rupual's Drag Race . . . then Rupaul's new single is hysterical!

I only discovered this record about 8 years ago…really great stuff
Let It Be Super Deluxe (you can stream it now on Spotify/Amazon/etc, no way am I dropping $150 on that)

The Glyn Johns mixed album is… interesting. I can see why the group decided it wouldn't see the light of day. Still pretty cool to hear for the first time but that's as big as a drop-off from The White Album as you can imagine.

Leaving out the entire rooftop concert is a rather strange omission.

The Velveteers - Nightmare Daydream

Scorching rock album released by Easy Eye Sound probably my most favorite new label of late…

decided to take this one for a road test, because if it doesn't rock out on the car radio what's the point…

anyways, i noticed at one point there was a whole lot of drumming going on, which of course could have been done in the studio…

but, turns out the band's lineup is  guitar. drums and a second drummer who also doubles on keyboards… so on occasion you get that rarely seen double drum attack… anyways here's a video to rock your world…

and i'm guessing they are something to see live based on this video

yeah i saw that, but i'm still in bunker mode at the moment…

Bill Evans is a world of music unto himself. I been enjoying it although there is a lot of melancholy to it.

I wish I could appreciate the bass solos… like Scott Lafaro here, just a few days before his fatal car accident.

Happy 80th Steve Cropper

The black sticky tells me I got this 2LP set for 10 cents from the CD Game Exchange…my guess is about 15 years ago

Still amazes me just how cheap and unwanted vinyl was for a while…
Jo Boxers - Like Gangbusters

they did a twitter listening party for this one and it's been far to long since i've listen to this one in it's entirety besides the single and it's great record

Just got lucky is such a fantastic song

and the thing I learned about this one, is the drummer was into Northern Soul at the time and this one of the tracks he used that type of beat on… which of course makes sense if I listen to now having listen to lots of Northern Soul of late

New GBV

It's Them
It Couldn't Be Them
It Is Them

Likewise.  Went to pick up new Parquet Courts album at Soundgarden and apparently Bob and company were there earlier that morning.

Also listening to new Parquet Courts which has elements of Remain in Light on some songs.
