What Are You Listening To?

faces- a nod is as good as a wink…

I guess I like if I had to pick only one faces album and the box set wasn't an option I'd go with this one.. a little better ratio of rockers/raveups to slow songs…..

better party album.. gets a better rating for that…i guess i would give this one five stars and ooh la la 4.5….long player probably 4.. the box set is the best though and gets five stars..

not really for me.
tried many times, but just can't get into the carla bley universe.
shiny silver cover is cool, however.
Bowie- Cat People
La Femme - Mystère

Random French band I am checking out…
the sound of birds in my head
The Warlocks - Songs from the Pale Eclipse
I've been listening a ton to "King Tubby's Prophesy of Dub" which is a Yabby You album as I understand it but these Jamaican releases its hard to figure anything out about them….

It is fabulous dub music… probably my favorite reissue I came across this year.. its pretty hard to find .. reissued on Blood and Fire…. some dub leaves me cold and is boring but this one is a killer…

I would post a picture but its always in my car.

some Prestige soul jazz earlier today

Joe Jones- Boogaloo Joe Jones
Jack McDuff- Live at the Jazz Workshop

now

The Searchers- It's the Searchers (original UK Pye)

upcoming

Ray Charles- Ray Charles Story Volume 2
The Birdland Stars - On Tour Vol 1
Kenny Dorham is "Kenny Durham" on cover.. great lineup including Al Cohn/Conte Candoli/John Simmons (I always remember this guy as a Billie Holiday smack enabler for some reason)/Kenny Clarke and Hank Jones..
\
Anicon - Exegeses
Rolling Stones- Aftermath  (nice stereo pressing 1a/1a stampers)… hard to believe as it may be for 1966 this was the first Stones album issued in true stereo..
nels cline - lovers
w/lovely and creative orch. arrangements by michael leonhardt (plays trumpet for steely dan).
standards and obscure tunes.
sounds like jim hall (an influence) sprinkled with some of his more out-there playing.
winner.
My go to record of late has been Bruce Foxton - Smash The Clock… Dare I say it's a bit more Jam like then what Weller has been doing of late.  I dig how he'll occasionally drop those great bass licks like he's known for just to remind of what what a great bass player he is…
Of Mice & Men - Cold World
