As much as I hate the city of Philly, I have to say some of my favorite bands from the last seven years have hailed from there.
I just listened to Sturgill Simpson. I liked it.

Standard country-spillover-into-pop type act. Has some bluegrassy elements that appeals to the Fleet Foxes/bearded NW crowd. It's not terrible; it's not amazing.

Tim Wheeler - Lost Domain Deluxe Edition courtesy Pledge Music. 

I had pre-ordered the deluxe digital edition via Pledge Music and for some technical reason they couldn't provide the bonus disc as a download so they mailed me a signed copy of the physical Deluxe edition from Switzerland as a replacement. Not sure other than for possibly copyright reasons why couldn't provide the digital download, but I ain't complaining.  Wonder if the acoustic  covers of other Ash songs on the record caused the problem…
