Clutch "Careful With That Mic…"

I never really liked Clutch, but I also never really had a problem with them. I feel like…….I probably want to see them live.

Wonder what the title is referencing.

Clutch are playing Artscape in Baltimore for free on July 21st. Lionize (who are basically Clutch Jr.) Celebration, Hume, and Black Joe Lewis will all play too. I'll be there. It will be my third time in a row seeing a free Clutch show!
Listening to James Brown's Love Power Peace CD which is a live recording of James Brown with the JBs (Bobby Byrd, Bootsy, Bootsy's brother Phelps "Catfish", Pinckney, Jabo, Fred Wesley, etc. [NO Maceo though]). It is unusual for an artist's greatest recording to be virtually unknown but do yourself a favor and check out this live recording from Paris in March 8 1971 (I was 50 days old and JB was peakin'! OH yah!). The reason its unknown is that although originally scheduled for a 3LP release on King it was shelved when James Brown jumped to the Polydor label and most of his band left him and, eventually, joined George Clinton and became part of the Parliament-Funkadelic crew. It was released in the 1990s on CD cutting out a few songs but most of the show is there…missing a bit of low end but its a solid recording.. Anyways, I'm sending good vibes to Phelps Collins who died in 2010 and although he played on some great stuff seems to me to have been virtually unknown unlike his flashier sibling…I can't recall even knowing he'd died so that tells you something….his playing on this is otherworldly. It can be had new for about $5 (shipping included) on Amazon and is super bad. I do wish I'd told Bootsy how much this recording meant to me when I met him a week or two ago, and, specifically how spellbinding some of his brother's playing is on it but the vibe was good and ultimately that is enough.
The downloads are gone, but you can still find it if you look.

Unlike other aging "crooners", Iggy has opted not to delve into the American Song catalog for his twilight releases, instead he delivers an interesting take on French Cabaret songs.

Yeah  it's as bad you think…

I've said to others that if you want to hear what mainstream rock sounded like 20 years ago, listen to country radio today. Jon Bon Jovi knew exactly what he was doing.
"Hey Joe"

Anyone use IHeartRadio? I think it's kind of crap, but it's the only streaming radio type service we can use at work. So lame. It's not so bad sometimes, but other times if you don't 'like' or 'dislike' any song it reverts to some weird generic playlist. All my "rock" stations just go into a hole of Stone Temple Pilots and Soundgarden and awful 90s shit. I don't get it.
