What Are You Listening To?

I just remembered that I was dragged to a George Michael concert, Halloween 1991 at the Cap Centre.  I don't remember much about the show (I can't find a setlist online), but I do remember him covering "Don't Let the Sun Go Down On Me" in a bang-up sort of way.  I believe there may have been a witch hat involved…

I am more interested, that you lived in japan.

I been everywhere my friend… my sad current life is no reflection of my former glories..

maybe not.. but I did live in Japan 1980-1985…..and Wham! was very Big in Japan.
wait…was he in Alphaville ?!
wow according to 930 Club's facebook post George Michael way back in 1988 was IMP's first Arena show..at the Cap Center…

I had no idea..

its an interesting album because there are a few killer tracks from Sun records (That's allright, Mystery Train) which made their first LP appearance on this.. and for the next 15 plus years this was the place to get them… when Elvis was in the Army RCA ran out of material so they put this together.. and if you like early Elvis this is pretty great…for some reason I had never even seen this one out.. I don't know if people played it to death or what… but its one I never see about…

I found this one with no cover…

Joy Division- Closer
anyone know who plays the synths on Closer?

A: Looks like largely Bernard Sumner…maybe Martin Hannett a bit too.
Working With the Miles Davis Quartet. Perferct music for an afternoon of cleaning and scrubbing the house after an agonizing morning at the dentist on one of my vacation days.. Too bad my wife will probably come home and rip apart my job as inadequate.

gee sounds like a great day.. sorry to hear that..

Quartet?

Miles did not cut many sessions in a "quartet" so that is certainly an interesting choice….

Quintet. You are right, of course. I'm hardly an afficianado so of course it rolled off my tongue wrong.

Following that up with Round About Midnight and Someday My Prince Will Come.

My kid put in about ten minutes of work, quit, and insisted I turn my music off so she could watch tv. I sent her out of the room and told her to watch tv downstairs.

Cleaning is actually kind of fun when nobody bothers you or critiques your work. Time to take down the Xmas tree.

And finishing it off with Kind of Blue and Milestones.

Kind of Blue is amazing.. I read an interesting book on it by Ashley Khan..

If you haven't read Miles' autobiography I recommend it…
