What Are You Listening To?

The BellRays

Didn't realize they were still an active group… so much punk/garage chaos and what a voice Lisa has

So good
You were all excited about the vinyl release and now you got a test press, nice… but no artwork/liner notes
You know me that little??!?

Arguably first really good band I got into …was 12 or 13…a Japanese radio station had a special where they played two hours of police and I taped it using stereo my dad had given me…listened to that tape to death

This box set gathers everything in 4 CDs!

Come Together: Adventures On The Indie Dancefloor 1989-1992

a playlist of the four CD boxset just released celebrating the Madchester/baggy scene and the indie dance crossover.

Owsley - S/T

It's shame Owsley's solo career never took off while he was still alive as this is a fantastic Power Pop album from him.  He was Amy  Grant's guitarist for many years and also worked with a number of other country artists, before sadly passing away in 2010 due to an apparent suicide.

There is of course the record he did with The Semantics early in his career, which in the early 90s was sort of a holy grail in the Power Pop community. It was set to be released by Geffen but it was dropped because "too pop for alternative and too alternative for pop."  It eventually got a Japanese release.  Zak Starkey was briefly in the band and recorded that only album they released.

The band's history is an interesting read as it's formation was intertwined with the early days of Ben Folds career.

The Semantics - Powerbill album is really good.  Available on where of course YouTube..
