An exclamation mark (!) is used to express strong emotions like excitement, surprise, or emphasis, and is placed at the end of a sentence or phrase to convey that feeling.

Here's a more detailed explanation:

Expressing Strong Emotion:
The primary purpose of an exclamation mark is to indicate that the speaker or writer is conveying a strong emotion, such as joy, anger, surprise, or excitement.

Adding Emphasis:
An exclamation mark can also be used to emphasize a statement or command, making it sound more forceful or urgent.

Examples:
"I can't believe we won!" (Excitement)
"Stop that!" (Anger or urgency)
"What a beautiful day!" (Surprise or joy)

Informal Writing:
Exclamation marks are more common in informal writing, such as emails, texts, or creative writing, where expressing emotion is often desired.

Formal Writing:
In formal writing, such as academic papers or business reports, overuse of exclamation marks can be seen as unprofessional.

Other Uses:
After interjections (sudden, brief expressions of emotion): "Wow! That's amazing!"
With sentence fragments or sudden interjections: "Careful! That spider is poisonous."
After commands or forceful statements: "Go now!"
After rhetorical questions: "How could you do that?!"
Doh now I get it

Got tipped off about the producer Black Market Dub by Mike Scott of The Waterboys and while he has a number of his dub productions EPs on Bandcamp there are also videos of the live mixing of a dub which are fun to watch how they come together.

Here's one of creation of the dub mix of a NIN cover of "Every Day Is Exactly The Same" done by Rebelation

https://youtu.be/773UjywUkEo

This features another dub producer Wise Owl doing a dub of Bowie's "Lady Stardust"  in this case he appears to be do a dub from the original track

Smoke and Mirrors Sound System "No. 10 Dubbing Street"

Ska/Rocksteady/Dub tribute to Big Audio Dynamite's iconic album "No. 10, Upping St."

and why yes I have indeed fallen down a Ska/Rocksteady tribute album rabbit hole as I look at what The Specialized Project has released

it sure seems like the Ska/Rocksteady scene is really well connected and supportive of each other…
Back to what got me started down my current rabbit hole

Been listening to many of Black Market Dubs tracks on Bandcamp https://blackmarketdub.bandcamp.com/music

his bio reads

What would happen if The Beach Boys had The Wailers as their backing band instead of The Wrecking Crew? What if David Bowie spent the summer of 1975 in Kingston, Jamaica with King Tubby instead of Philadelphia? Michael Jackson meets Scratch Perry? These questions are the basic thesis of Black Market. Listen loud, dance, enjoy, and share.

Checked out the set of The Clash Dubs recommended by Mike Scott called "Give 'Em Enough Dub" and was curious to find out he's creating dubs from the original recordings verses a group of musicians doing dub takes.  This is likely why he only posts on Bandcamp and accepts donations for his work.  Thought the dubs were decent…

Out of curiosity I  checked out the dubs he did for The Temptations and these totally work, which makes sense as 60s harmonic soul was a big influence on early rocksteady.  "Just My Imagination" works just great dubbed out..

Since then I've listened to some of his Bowie, Beach Boys, Talking Heads, Blondie and his take on music from Twin Peaks. Some of his dubs work better than others…

Lots to choose from including vintage Horror and Sci-Fi soundtrack music dubs…

Recently picked up this wonderful box set on epay for $76 plus shipping and tax. Quite a deal for 6 LPs.

I been in a Petty phase lately.

An incredible set. Highly recommend.

I have to say one of the great joys in my life was seeing Mudcrutch at the 930 club shortly before Petty passed.

I guess this is one of the last shows Pigpen did with the Dead in the US. And Keith and Donna are already in band…

This show sounds so much better than the 74 one (this one is a Betty board) …band is into it.

This cover gives me coke vibes…
