What Are You Listening To?

I'm just getting started…

Amoeba has digitized their massive collection of rare and out-of-print albums and singles and put the downloads up for sale via Amoeba.com's new Vinyl Vaults.

Everything from long-forgotten Mississippi blues 45s to Louis Armstrong singles to an insane 144 Sun Ra albums have thus far been placed into the Vinyl Vaults, each track beautifully remastered so it retains its original warm sound. There are currently just over a thousand tracks in the Vaults, and Amoeba adds around 10 to 15 more every day, Variety reports. You can also listen to a 90-second preview of each song before purchasing.

Brian Whelan - Decider

James Ford might like this one… Brian Whelan is a former member of The Broken West and now a part of Dwight Yoakum's band including recording the 3 Pears album.
why do i like lana del ray so much. good lord, such a love hate thing with her. she can drone on too long and repeat way too much, but her voice is solid and most of her style and lyrics are good. i hope she does not flop away. and this, i like this now

Sugar & The Hi Lows - Sugar & The Hi Lows

Really liking record at the moment. Subtle touches of early Country Music make this a fun listen.

Excellent Afropop from DC.
rippin'

nice.
Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats - Blood Lust.

New disc in 2013, I hear.

The liner notes do :)
Pretty bummed I'm only listening to Slaughterhouse now, days AFTER that Ty show. Oh well.
Ty Segall seems like the kind of guy who will pop up in DC more than once a year. Jay Reatard was the same way. I saw him open for the Ponys and then just a few months later for Meat Puppets, and there was another set in this time period that I missed, and then he died. But I'll bet Ty Segall will be back by this summer.

One neat thing is that often in the weeks leading up to a show that I'm hot on, I'll listen to the band in question non-stop. Then once the show is over, I usually immediately move on to something else. But I've continued to play the hell out of Ty's records. Really high on him.
The foxygen album is actually quite good. I heard "No destruction" and wasn't impressed but the rest of the album is pretty awesome.
