this is sounding pretty good so far. hella better than the latest one from the fall, at the very least. not that that's saying much.
Blue on Blue: Unreleased mixes, demos & outtakes 1990-1991 - Spiritualized

Yes, yes, and yes.
Other than a once-or-twice-a-year spin of "My Aim Is True", I haven't listened to these in years. Today seemed like a good day to pull them out. :-)
One of the problems I have with Elvis is how he treats those first albums as his essential canon and feels compelled to do five-six songs from them every show. I guess he feels that's what the casual (and longtime hardcore) fan wants to hear.

I guess. I never liked "Alison" much anyway. Songs like "Worthless Thing," "King of Thieves," "Town Cryer," "Next Time Round," and "Suit of Lights" (amongst dozens of others) are just as good as songs from those three. And if he wants to mine those three, why doesn't he ever do "Night Rally" or "Good Squad?"

He's almost like Oasis. But there's a reason that Oasis mainly do songs from their first two albums…

The PLUGZ debut on CD. I have waited a long time for this one. And it's a brand spankin' new copy, as you can see from the pic. If you don't know who the Plugz are, check your headgear.
Ditto (albeit in digital format).

It's pretty good – but it's not Alligator.

I'm going to wait a bit before deciding how it stacks up in comparison. It tooks months before I loved Alligator & my favorite song on there - Geese of Beverly Road - I did not initially like.

Boxer is a beautiful & haunting record tho. Obviously influenced by their side project - the Clogs. The one immediate observation is the restraint. No explosions of emotion that have been the highlight of previous records.

For whatever it's worth - Boxer now has an 89 on Meta:
