What is notable about Prince is he cratered. There isn’t even one song that can sit on his greatest hits from his last 10 years.

ok just keep clinging to the fact that you are the expert on all 20+ records he recorded since 1994

and for the record PlectrumElectrum is on par with Dirty Mind

and here the banger from the album recorded with Lizzo in 2014

The issue is not just about the actual music but about what type of music we are talking about. If we are talking about popular music or say rock and roll then it’s about music for the young and for youth culture; largely preteens, teens etc. obviously for a musician to be able to write music that youth can identify with, process etc the musician can’t be in their 40s!!

This is why if we move away from popular music we find plenty of artists peaking after 30 even if their music is not as popular. Ryuichi Sakamoto for example. Ennio. Many

And if we accept Bowie’s Berlin trilogy as his high point- as more and more people do every year, Bowie peaked after 30.
Five music nerds who are wrong think this.

Have you listen to the record?

and just oh by the way

"The album reached number 1 on the Billboard Top Rock Albums chart, and 8 on The Billboard 200. It also entered the main charts in Europe, Australia and Japan, reaching top 10 positions in Austria, Denmark, France, Japan, Norway, Switzerland and the Netherlands.'

and to continue to poke the bear..

The Coral are well into their 30 early 40s and have consistently released  great albums.
Yes well when you are handing out free CDs with newspapers and tickets they tend to “sell” if you can call it that….

Song is horrible. It has 59k views. I can link to videos of dogs taking a crap with more views.

Surely as the forum leading expert on Prince you would have known,

a) This that PlectrumElectrum was a proper retail release on CD, Digital and Vinyl
b) It came out on the same day as Art Official Age which also charted

I chose the YouTube link because it easier then to link to Spotify, YouTube isn't the primary chose for streaming album, etc so I would say 50K streams is very reasonable.  Same track on Spotify is 503K

moving on to Art Official Age I'll say this one is equivalent to Lovesexy and has a certified banger on it in "Breakfast Can Wait" with 5 Million Spotify streams and 500K  YouTube streams.
kosmo, don't bother.  there is nothing you can say/write that will move this conversation forward.  he's entrenched.  move on ;D

I'm trying here, not sure I'm going to rate boytrouble is a banger on par with his 80s output?
cool that lizzo was on it in 2014

interesting that it was released in 2014, as it has a very 80s feel

interesting foot note (to me as this is new)

3RDEYEGIRL, is an American funk rock band and was Prince's backing band from his 2014 return to Warner Music until his death in 2016. It was a trio consisting of the American drummer Hannah Welton, Canadian guitarist Donna Grantis and Danish bassist Ida Kristine Nielsen.[2][3] Together with Prince, they released the LP Plectrumelectrum on September 30, 2014.

After Prince's death in 2016, Hannah and Joshua started their own Christian ministry in 2018.
