What Are You Listening To?

AC/DC- Power up

Why is this album better than some others by them? And way better than the last one

- bluesier Rock riffs by angus (see bluesy riff on No Man’s land which sounds kind of like a Jimmy Page thing from Zep say In My time of dying) who worked hard to come up with something
- Producer O’Brien took a crash course of mutt Lange …much better backing vocals than recently

The best example of the above is Kick you when you’re down which marries a great Angus blues riff with Mutt Lange backing vocals (think Def Leppard if you never associate AC/DC with these backing vocals even though Mutt pioneered it with AC/DC)

Just a great listen… and a relief

A special word about “Through the mists of time”…. I don’t know how they managed this one but this is grade A and gives me goosebumps…the ultimate tribute song to Malcolm at least I choose to take it that way… no they could not duplicate Back in Black’s entire album  fantastic tribute (album not song) to Bon Scott but this song just amazes me…nobody who likes AC/DC will fail to appreciate this one…grade A

Also, hats off to Brian Johnson who sings and screeches his heart out and Phil Rudd who is the magic card on drums…that snare and high hat…perfect

Also nods to Thunderstruck on a few songs

At this point nearing 50 years AC/DC isn’t going to make many new fans and their music is dated and culturally largely out of step so it really is about their fans still with them..And they delivered for them here…
