What Are You Listening To?

Brel was the best. I am happy to report I acquired a 45 signed by him earlier this year. I now got Aznavour, Piaf and Brel. Just missing Serge.

Babasonicos - Mucho +

So fucking good

I went back to get it. Just couldn’t pass up for $3.

Interesting backstory

Actually plays fairly nice. Will need to compare to my other copies. It’s a tough album to find in good shape.
Cindy Lee - Diamond Jubilee

On Qobuz but it will likely not last long as it’s was added and then promptly removed everywhere else so far.

I listened to all two hours of it and it’s nicely done indie pop that fades into the background, don’t really see what the fuss is all about.. which leads into

Charlie XCX - BRAT

Again not seeing what all the fuss adulation, lathe, rinses repeat is about.  In terms of over the top pop dance records I place Confidence Man 3AM (LA, LA, LA) above it.
The Best Northern Soul Album In The World… Ever!

75 Floor-Filling Classics
But is it really the best ever?

Skeptical
George Michael - Older

Christmas always makes me think of George Michael…not only cause of Last Christmas but cause he died on Christmas Day.
Love Fiend - Handle With Care

Best described as if Ric Ocasek had collaborated with Mark Mothersbaugh in the 70s, singer even sounds a bit like Ric.  So the slick sound of the Cars paired with the edgier new wave sound of Devo.  Power Pop with period appropriate synths.  Produced by John Dwyer of Osees

totally digging it, feeling like I need to dig out a skinny tie…

Well it pulls from both the Universal Music and Sony catalogs, so not likely as deep as some compilations go.  But, it does share a number of tracks with " The Best Northern Soul All Nighter Ever"
